Barcelona are one of the best sides in the world. No shame in going out to them.
If someone said at start of season we would finish with 97 point with only 1 defeat and still not win the league I would not have believed it. But it looks to be happening.
Pep had created a mass winning machine in the premiership. You can only tip your hat to that.
Klopp is going to have to get us going again.
In this regard he is the best man for the job.
Let's get on with it...
Four years and waiting, and a number of finals where we've come up significantly short.
Some fabulous football, the envy of many, but another barren season despite our best efforts is just not good enough.
Lessons learned.

Yeah....no way we're going to score four against Barca - even at Anfield. AND if we do score four, they'll get at least one goal.
As for the league, we'll most likely finish second with 97 points - AND - a single loss all damn season. How ridiculous is that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
CL effort is probably over. However, there are still two games to go in the PL. Don't jump into the Mersey just yet!
“Hard to accept but our best unfortunately looks to be again not enough.”

In a way this makes it easier for me to accept. We haven’t bottled anything, we’re going to end up with our record points haul for the season (we already have it actually) and we made it all the way to the semis of the champions league to be undone by the best player who’s ever lived.
But all through it we played great football and won a lot of games, i can’t point to the side and say they should have done better, they’ve done as well as this side can possibly good. It’s just there’s 2 sides who are a little bit better than us.
Just one of those things.
Take even one of those chances last night and it would be game on at Anfield. We had a large gap at the top of the PL and let it go. We didn’t even show up in the domestic cups.
We do seem to have an issue when it comes down to the crunch and actually winning something. I’m not even sure why that is.
We will need to address that problem this summer.
On the bright side, these two are delighted.

I think you’re right. This ability to transition from playing entertaining football to securing a win continues to evade us, I don’t think it’s about the players (although last night’s starting XI and typically late substitutions didn’t help), it’s almost more about the mental attitude to games. How often have we scored early in a game and then sat back, inviting pressure... or been too cautious in our play. Something we saw last night was the utter gritted determination from Barca to win, epitomised by how Suarez played. Call him a cheat or whatever but he showed a level of attitude that was missing from most of our team. More than a few of our games this season which resulted in draws could have done with that kind of attitude.
Man City demonstrate it, but to a lesser extent, and because of this they will secure the title while our 30 year wait will go on.
Whilst not impossible will be very hard for you to go through now. You faced one of the best in the world, with the best player in their ranks and acquitted yourself well, no shame in going out to Barca. They’ll mop the floor with spurs if they make the final..

Bang spot on Questions have to be asked if this carries on.
Kieta was a miss coming off and we could of done with Ox off the bench. We keep on choking at the final stages of these big comps something has to give otherwise it be another frustrating season. The 2 drop points against Everton and man u cost us when both games were there for the taking but oh well.

This will be the first semi final we’ve lost under Klopp. We had a seven point lead, midway through the season, which isn’t that big if you actually look at it properly. City beat us, down to four, then three draws, which ordinarily wouldn’t be so costly, but City have been on an unbelievable winning run, which is pretty much impossible to repel.
Stop sulking and maybe you’ll see that the only issue is that we lost to the best team in Europe over the last 10+ years, and possibly the best side the PL has ever seen.

I’d forgotten about AOC, but see he wasn’t on the bench. That needs explaining, he could have been another option to push the game up a notch, even if only for 30 mins.
Don’t think it’s the players but we are going to need to spend heavily in all areas to keep pace with City, it seems to be more our mental attitude. Perhaps it’s the lack of experience of winning anything recently, something most of the players and Klopp suffer from.

Thats a fair point in terms of the mental attitude thats something we have to change or we will always be nearly men.
I think some of you are being a little harsh on us.
We were excellent last night. The scoreline really is difficult to accept. I don’t think you can call it choking when you play like that at the Nou camp.

Can't say fairer than that if you'd have mucked up games consistently over the season you could have a moan but Liverpool have been bang on it all year and unfortunately just came up against 2 teams, Barca and City that have (might ?) just shaded them

This is not sulking. This is trying to rationalise why we find ourselves in a position of seemingly little tangible progress since last season despite playing excellent football.
While it would be easy for me to say “take the rose-tinted spectacles off” or “ a little less misty-eyed sentimentality” I’ll just suggest that if you don’t like it then don’t read the comments.
