Summer 2019 In/Out

The fixtures for the U23s came out on Monday and good to see us now in the sane division as the top clubs in the country. The home games will again generally be played at Telford and there should be some games worth seeing. In a friendly at Swansea on Monday we won 1-0 with a Niall Ennis winner

Saiss tends to need a couple of games to drop in to his groove, but when he does I think he's a damned fine footballer. Not as silky smooth as Neves and Moutinho, but can definitely cover for Dendoncker.

Looks like he's going to Arsenal, but would be interesting to know if we really were serious about bringing in Khedira, What a bench option he would have been.

I don’t think Saiss is good cover for Dendoncker. He struggles in the box to box role on the right side of our midfield and is much more comfortable playing the deeper role occupied by Neves.

Looks like Moise Kean will sign for Everton from Juve this week. Very good signing, let’s hope we have somebody comparable on the way

Cutrone medical taking place. Signing will be confirmed later today or more likely in the morning. I understand that neither Cutrone or Vallejo will be in the squad for Belfast on Thursday. Only players registered before the first leg of a tie are eligible

Saiss is a very good player and you can count on one hand the amount of poor games he has had in a variety of roles. That said he is of course currently 4th in line in midfield and it may be that he himself would be open to a move if we brought in another midfielder.

Like their third strip more than our first. Definitely won't be buying this year's shirt.

There are some attractive strips around and some terrible ones, but I do think most are ruined by the advertising nowadays

Patrick Cutrone is officially a done deal folks.

What a time to be a Wolves fan.

Right, who's next?

Disagree there Tam, Saiss gets forward to good effect, not as creative as Dendoncker, more direct I would say but he puts himself about on the box.

Saiss and the Donck, have identical stats for last season incidentally, both having 19 league and 5 cup appearances and 2 goals.

Best probing forward pass by a midfielder against crusaders was from Saiss

posted on 30/7/19

I would tend to agree with tam on that one. Saiss is not a mobile player and doesn’t tend to play the ball quickly. I think defence or just ahead of the defence is his best position and to me we always look a more defensive team when he plays in midfield. What he does he does well, but I just don’t think there’s enough to his game to make him a contender for being a regular at this level

He makes runs into the box, but Edwards used to do that. Our overall game suffers when he plays in the advanced roles in the midfield three. His best work is done from deep in the midfield where his physicality and keeping the ball moving is best suited. He also provides an extra aerial threat from set pieces which is where most of his goals come from, whereas Dendoncker is a much bigger threat in open play.

well done fosun aka little jeff.
they (he) certainly stick to their guns and don't give up even when the target doesn't look as though they're going to come.
now go get dias and we are definitely top 5

Dias and Dani Olmo and we're set

Seems to be a big debate all round as to whether when Nuno said he expected two more signings did that include Cutrone or not. Hopefully it’s two and if that’s Dias and a quality midfield player we really are in business. Still a lot of press speculation that the defensive signing might be Wallace though who would he about £40m cheaper than Dias

Agree completely, IF we sign another defender and a midfielder this will have been a fantastic window and IF we sign Dias and Bruno Fernandes it would be the second greatest window of all time just beaten by the one where we got rid of Dave Edwards.

I managed to kick the habit of coming on here quite a while ago now.

But this evening - excited by the capture of cutrone - I thought I'd duck back in and see what everyone has to say. I'm sort of reassured that virtually the first comment I've seen in two years is cinci having a snide dig at Edwards. It's like going back to your old hometown boozer at Xmas. You can't quite believe the familiar faces are all still there having exactly the same conversations and you wouldn't want to spend more than a minute longer than one evening back there, but it's quite nice somehow to know that it's there and hasn't changed.

Even so, do you think it might be time to let it go cinci and move on with your life? That level of obsession can't be healthy.

Feck me, it was a light hearted joke about a player I haven't brought up for months or even years.

I'm sure I saw somewhere Nuno quoted as saying that he wanted to work with 18 outfield players. If that is correct we can expect 2 more as he currently has 16.
