Some City fans told a nine year old disabled Evertonian he should have been drowned at birth, bit different if the players had been shouting it at him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and there’s a bit of a difference in that and what the players have sung ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Point is, its irrelevant how long the fans have been singing a song, the players shouldn't be singing songs about fans being attacked in the street, or fellow pros being injured.
Totally classless.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How did you link that to your original point above?

Re-read and now I sort of understand where you’re heading. But it’s a false equivalence all the same.

And after some City fans were accused of overreacting about the bus...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think you’ll find a single comment from me complaining about that. But whatever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are plenty, even now.

It isn’t though. When that happened to that Evertonian kid people slammed it from all sides. If the players had then gone on to say it then your point may have some grounds to it. But that chants been sung at probably every game we’ve played this season and I haven’t heard any one having a problem - maybe if you looked hard enough you’d find a few small grumblings. Now the players have sung it suddenly everyone’s hysterically outraged by the content.

You don’t think there’s a difference between the players and the fans singing the song?

I didn’t know about the fans singing it all season, but sad if you ask me, until yesterday. That’s because I don’t pay that much attention to the actions of City fans. Definitely not as much as City fans pay attention to the actions of our fans.

The fact City’s players are singing this, after they’ve just won the league, is cringey to start with. The there’s the fact players singing it, and the social media attention it was always going to attract, could be seen as advocating Liverpool fans ‘being battered in the streets’.

It also highlights the rank hypocrisy of City fans, not saying you specifically, following the reaction of milkshake being thrown at a bus and the subsequent outrage that rumbled on for a year after.

Of course there’s a difference between the players singing and the fans. But the point is to begin with you are either offended by the content or you aren’t. Regardless of who is singing it, and as I say until now I’ve not seen anyone actually be offended by it.

Similar has happened with United after the Europa League, and a lot of City fans were pizzed off but that was amplified by the unique circumstances surrounding that game. I don’t think it’s really a big deal to be honest. But people do love a splurge of outrage these days before they move on to the next thing.

Thought Liverpool fans were so content with their amazing season... I'm surprised a song City have sung all season bothers them so much.

Guess a lot of the posters on here don't go to games so would not have known of the song until the red tops and Sky flagged it

This has more to do with no one paying City fans that much attention than anything. That’s why most, if not all, of us hadn’t heard about City fans chanting it until yesterday. It’s difficult to react, outraged or not, to something you’re not aware of.

I’d be surprised given we’ve played each other twice this season if nobody at either game had wondered why City were singing one of Liverpool’s songs. But maybe you’re right.

Take it for what it is. The majority were only singing the Allez part. Which suggests they don’t actually know what the words are. Is it a bit misjudged? Probably. Is it likely to lead to increased attacks on Liverpool fans or injury to their players? Probably not.

Grated

Fans of loads of clubs sing the Allez, Allez, Allez song now. Not sure if they did before we started singing it or not. Either way I was at our home game against you and didn’t pay that much attention to it.

Still think it’s not a good look for the team that’s just won the league.

It's very hard to hear City fans to be fair. Only singing the chorus of a song shows what kind of supporters go to the game.

Yeah and I agree fields. It definitely is misjudged. I remember being peed when United did similar, but as I say there were other reasons surrounding that. But at the end of the day, it’s pretty minor really.

It’s poor taste but it’s being made worse by people trying to link it to Sean Cox and Hillsborough.

Don't think any player of note sung the song anyway, the allez bit at the end is just a chorus
United players sung the knick knack paddy whack "song",demanding that City players Fk off home ,very offensive

Apparently the song we’ve all been singing since last August is all about that Irish bloke and Hillsborough.
