I’d be trying to get Lenglet on a permanent this January
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends how much they ask, I wouldn’t spend any substantial money on him I don’t think
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? He’s been by far & away our best defender ( Romero included ) this season.
Also Barca is in big financial trouble going out CL so should get him at a great price.

CB, RWB, FW are the most needed position
People laugh about spending £60m on Gordon but were happy to pay £80m for Bastoni or that 19 yr old from RBL.
Both unproven in the league but hid behind the narrative of what Conte wants.
I don't think Gordon is worth £60m either but he has scope to get better and is some proven in the league.
On a sidenote, seems like every half decent player who's contract is not up next year is worth £60m plus.
Maddison's stock has surely risen in the last year. Leicester should be looking at £80m at least.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Regardless of the rest of the players fans wanted us to sign, it doesn't make Gordon any closer to £60m.
I hated paying that for Richarlison as he's nowhere near worth that.
Gordon is £15m tops, and even that's made me feel dirty putting that kind of figure on him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you consider his age, english and skillset he is £35m tops.
Agreed I still have a hard time accepting we paid £60m for Rico. Especially when you consider them lot paying £45m for Jesus. I feel abit sick tbh.

If after the January Tramsfer Window, we end up being able to put out a team like the below.... how do you all think sets us up for the rest of the season?
If we take advantage of Skriniar's contract situation and arrange for Udogie to come in sooner than planned...
.................................Lloris
.............Romero.....Skriniar.....Lenglet
Doherty.................................................Udogie
................Bentancur.......Hojbjerg
Kulusevski..............Kane...............Son
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bearing in mind we can't fix all our issues in January...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An upgrade on Dier is the absolute priority. A RWB would be a bonus but if we can’t get one then Doherty isn’t terrible. I know PEH has done well but I prefer Bissouma, we just needs players who are a bit more comfortable on the ball and PEH falls into that ‘gives it away too cheaply’ category for me. Same reason Lenglet has to start over Davies every game. Conceding a lot of possession is bad enough, giving the ball away as soon as you win it every time is the crowning terd in the u-bend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disagree with what you say about Hojbjerg. All the rest of it is pretty obvious.

Yeah agree, he’s been really good and there is an opportunity to pull Barcas pants down on the deal so we really should go for him IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve not been that impressed, he’s been steady and solid which is all we need from him but I can’t think of many performances where he has really stood out. Been very similar to Ben Davies really and I’d pay £15m for that but not more
So boring the constant transfer mistakes over the years that we will continue to have same conversations in windows even when signing a load of players in a window that doesn't look awful on face value
I think we have signed well pretty consistently over the last few windows

That's certainly showing isn't it
Tbf January signings have saved us from a serious drop off
Realistically we will make no more than 2 signings in January. I could be wrong but given our history of signings in January this number seems realistic.
Btw had no idea UEFA amended their rules to allow Welsh FA players like Davies qualify as homegrown for the CL.
This allowed Sarr and Gil both to be registered for the CL squad.
You would think both would drop out if we made two non hg signings but players like Sanchez, maybe Sanchez could be sold as well. Everyone would like Royal and Dier to be sold but Conte seems to love them so little chance of that happening. Hopefully in the summer. Damn just remembered Dier has reportedly been offered a new contract.
The state of this club.

I think midfield is ok but we are light on the attacking front. Lucas should be sold and Gil is still not ready.
That only leaves Ricky. If we get one more player to cover Kulu and Son then we should be ok. That would hopefully allow Conte to rest or at least sub Kane for some much needed rest.
Ricky is not suited covering for Kulu for me and should play up top or on the left where he can cut in with his right foot.

We are suffering from half a decade of poor investment in a squad that was small and only been turning the tide really since end of Poch/start of Jose
Conte needs two more windows to sign a GK, 3 CB's, RWB and one more attacker to properly compete with the other top 5 clubs.
I say 3 CBs because Leng is on loan. I think most of us can agree Romero should start, so two perm signings to play next to him then at least one more who decent cover.
The fook with Davies, Dier or Sanchez even being at the club as cover, but out of the three Davies should stay because he is HG and the lesser evil of the three.
