I think the club is trying to have it both ways. They imply that backing managers has seen them waste money but attribute success (increased revenue, CL qualification, no mention of trophies though..) to themselves.
Even if the manager does pick certain players it's still on the club as a whole to make the deals work, and if they overpay it's on the club. Whether it's right or wrong, attributing blame like that is toxic. After all, who picked the manager? Levy Out.

Well we know that the club had an interest in Bergwijn previously before he came in under Jose. And obviously Spence wasn't exactly Conte's choice. The club is as at fault as the managers for some of these failures. Then there's been plenty of examples where managers have wanted someone and we've settled for a not as good alternative.
Spurtle
There's also an undercurrent of 'we know what you're asking but the last time we did that look what happened' while not addressing the Trust's question around hiring a manager that we all know wants his specific players if that's going to be your approach.
The more I read the club's response the more Levy Out I am
Collymore talks rubbish, called Porro average and we should have signed Trossard instead. Didn’t realise Trossard can play RWB, absolute tool.

Well Poch did waste alot of money didn't he?
But the club are strugging to recoup money from bad transfers. There will always be an impact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bad transfers haven't been pinned all on one manager that's the problem. Whoever the coach has been the recruitment has been all over the place. Even when we've signed good players more recently we've either done some weird chit, struggling to get players out and not improving key areas at the right times.

I'm sure Spurs will be "keeping tabs" on him all the way to another club where he inevitably signs because Spurs didn't fancy the asking price
Tanganga and a bag of Doritos
I’m starting to lean towards Conte out. I know he’s a good manager but if he constantly pines to leave us and the football is as miserable as it is - then it’s not really worth it.
I appreciate that any manager would struggle with some of the players we have, but a lot of managers would have us achieving similar results - the football not being as excruciatingly dull and they not be on about 15m a year
Same. We needed to sign him on a longer deal and commit to the strategy. Now we're headed to another rebuild with some very expensive duds still to return to drink up the place.
I think there's going to a rude awakening for some fans next season putting all the blame on Conte for us being rubbish
I think we have a good team tbf
I think we have some good players. But the spine is severely lacking.
I think we are on CB and a good GK away really
Probably fair enough. Though I'd want to see 2 CBs (Lenglet on the cheap and one 50-60m CCB) assuming we're sticking with 3 atb and wing backs
#thfc are leading the competition to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. The two teams are willing to begin negotiations at around £20M. [Estadio Deportivo]
