They've signed Iñigo Martínez
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject to La Liga approval. Player is under contract until June 30th then he can be signed.
Well. If they can't get Martinez approved they have no hope of getting Laporte, he'd cost way more.
They'll definitely get Martinez, fear not

Why can’t they come in for one of the 10 players we actually want to go

Mad club
anyone watch empoli ? lmao
He is taller than Raya and some reports say he is available for €25m. Been linked to Uts, Juve and Bayern.
On SC, some had a look at a Brentford forum and they reckon Chelsea are sniffing...
Kulusevski counted as a signing in two windows by Levy.
I still maintain Levy will drag this out if the player still wants to come to us and us only. £40m is way to much for player with one year left on his contract.
weird we have to count these players as signings in more than one window

agree but either you get your main man in for that price, too much or not or move on to the next on the list and get the man in for pre season

Well yes and no. It might seem like too much but if we really wanted him then its a no brainer. When Raya sees out his remaining year do you really think we would have saved £40M? Most likely he gets offered a bigger contract somewhere else becausr we wouldnt match wages and sign on fees.
not many keepers out there with that ability with his feet and as a sweeper keeper that are realistically attainable
not really what italian keepers are known for

It's not about us saving £40m, it's about Brentford losing out on £30m+ for a player with a year left.
Southampton came down in the end with PEH and Brighton knew the score with Bissouma too. Both had a year left. POK's tweet doesn't change anything.
If Raya digs his heels in and says I only want Spurs then Brentford will have to budge.

Don't agree with that. O'Keefe is usually pretty rational when it comes to negotiation tactics. If he felt this were a ploy to get Brentford to lower the fee, he'd have said so but he didn't. He said we were pulling out.
The thing is, the going rate for Maddison is around £45-50m. I can see why Brentford want 40m. Behind Toney he's probably their most prized asset. The age of keepers being cheaper than outfield players are long gone.
Getting in someone considered homegrown, with Prem exp and only 27 is an absolute no brainer. Sometimes you have to pay slightly over the odds for players like that. Moving on to a player with no Prem experience is yet another recruitment risk and we can't afford to do that anymore. We need to start getting players through the door that are more guaranteed to do the business. The risk they won't is that much higher when you get them in cheaper from overseas. That's why we've been in such a mess for the last 4-5 years. In truth we've operated like that for the last 7 years. I don't remember the last time we bought Prem to Prem. Doherty maybe? He was a stupid buy on Jose's part but generally speaking you know what you're getting if you buy Prem to Prem.
On Raya, Levy thinks that he can lowball and threaten to pull out on the grounds that Raya really wants us but if he gets a sniff that Levy isn't that interested in paying all that much, he'll consider going elsewhere on the grounds he doesn't feel wanted. Same potentially with Madison.
I fecking hate this club and the way we operate. No fecking progress whatsoever.
