In all seriousness, Paul pogba getting in the team of the season instead of sissoko is criminal

Basically says yes Spurs are a big club who wouldn’t want to play for them. Wasn’t asked about any other club - no doubt he’d say the same about City, Real, Utd if asked. Also said he will see what happens regarding his future after his vacation, so don’t expect any imminent news (good or bad).

I was really hoping we could nail down some quality signings early doors so they could start pre-season with us. I’m finding it really difficult to hold my patience with this club at the moment - good things have happened, but time and again we fail to capitalise on opportunities to push on and this is starting to feel like one of those times.

We are in limbo with Eriksen - we don’t know if he’ll be a Spurs player next season or not. Not only does that affect our on-pitch planning, but also our funding for new players. Likewise Toby - we’re in a position where anyone could activate his release clause any day now. Are we prepared? Do we have a replacement scouted? Or do we think Foyth and Sanchez are adequate replacements (they’re not). Neither is Nathan Ake.

Then there’s our targets. I appreciate that players may want to assess their options, agents are parasites and selling clubs will drive a hard bargain. But, did we wait til the window opened to start deciding who we wanted? Or did we do the professional thing and target specific players long before that? Because if it’s the latter I maintain we should have aggressively pursued the specific targets we’d idenitifed with solid offers to their clubs and attractive packages to them to join us, theweek the window opened. We are the money. We can then recoup some outlay in player sales, but for once we need to be giving ourselves the chance to start early, prepare and begin the season strongly. Liverpool got transfer business done early last year and also paid what was needed for quality players in specific areas of weakness and look at how they progressed. With progression like that comes the money and status that helps elevate the club to the next level.

We just simply are not ruthless and proactive enough as a club a lot of the time. It’s not like we’re Arsenal who have blown a load of money on fees and wages for crap players and have no CL football. We’re in a great position and it doesn’t feel like we’re prepared to capitalise. We haven’t spent a brass farthing since January 2018 on a player ffs. I’m starting to have real concerns that two of our best players will be snapped up (for below value because of their contract situation) while we are gazumped for our top targets by clubs willing to pay top dollar for quality players. The result will be a second rate load of alternatives who’ll get no preseason and spend all year scrapping it out for 4th place. It’s not just trying to keep up with City and Liverpool we need to worry about, it’s also about keeping ahead of Utd, Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester - even West Ham are adding to their squad.

These are worrying times for me. I was optimistic the club would be decisive this window after Poch’s comments, after signing nobody for so long etc. Now I’m starting to lose faith. Fingers crossed I’m jumping the gun.

You can never be too optimistic with Levy around mate. We are simply doing the same thing we've always done, whether we're close to achieving silverware and need that little extra depth added, or whether a fair bit needs added.

Levy is the one common thing connecting all these transfer windows and different managers. I'm starting to forgive the scouts now for what would seem an incompetent job, because I get the impression Levy is too influential in how things are run, and he slows everything up. We shouldn't have the same issues people have been excusing Levy for before, such as the stadium needing to be paid. We know money IS available.

Maybe he'll prove us wrong, and we actually do have a proactive and organised window, but the writing is on the wall even at this early stage that it may be another disappointment.

As good as sissoko has been he shouldn't be in the starting team next season. He has cost us so many counter attack goals.

Is there really any point in a transfer window, if so please explain to me, most trading in done in a 3 or 4 day window so why

posted on 16/6/19

I love the guy but we can't have our starting CM be so technically limited

posted on 16/6/19

Ace, how you are feeling about Spurs and how frustrated you are is how the likes of me and Spurs have felt for 4/5 years now. I’m not even stressing over this window like I normally do because I know for a fact the way it’s going to go. I know 100% we will “try” for the likes of N’Dombele etc, but fail. It’s clear to see the guy is very interested in a move to us, the big problem is a guy named Daniel Levy stopping us from really pushing on.

I wouldn't say he's been any more guilty of that as Dele or Son, or Lucas at times.

This is why I would love Zaha. I think he'd greatly improve our ability to counter attack.

Well said, Don.

You can forget about Zaha . Palace would want close to 100m and he already earns more than Harry so Levy will never ever consider him.

Not sure the last part is true. Thought zaha was on about £130k.

Am I the only one that thinks players like Zaha are complete luxury players, and we already have enough of those. Spurs need to reinforce in the parts of the team that are seriously weak, ie right back and centre midfield. No way are Spurs going spend lots of money on a player that is similar to what we have in Son and Moura.

I agree not a priority. We would need to bring a CM , right back and a Eriksen replacement .
There definitely won't be 80 /100m left to bid on a player like Zaha.
