30 years ago we had Barmby, Anderton, Popescu, Dumitrescu, Sherringham, Klinsmann, Big Eric, Rocket Ronny, Mabbutt.

Our last good team before a decade of sludge and sheite ensued - Gross, Graham, Pleat, a few relegation scraps. League Cup in 99 yes, but otherwise it was crap for a long time after this team and didn’t start picking up again til the Jol era in the mid 00’s.

It’s a quandary isn’t it. Bissouma started the season superbly, then after Luton dipped, then picked up, then got another stupid red. He’s a quality player but 7 games missed through weak discipline is unacceptable. Sarr has been a revelation and Bentancur is our most gifted technician, the one that has time on the ball and can run a game from the centre of the pitch - a bit like Carrick. For me it would always be Bentancur with a rotation of the other two.

Would be my team. We now have good quality in depth with Emerson for Porro, Dragusin for Romero, Davies for VDV, (possibly) Sess for Udogie. Bissouma for the central mid, GLC for Madison although I think no10 is also Kulusevski’s strongest position as he’s too predictable on the right (especially against a low block) cutting back every time - so we effectively have three no10 options. Son can interchange with Richi in the striker role and we also now have Werner who can also play left or central, plus Solomon coming back as an extra option. Then there’s BJ who for me is way more effective on the right - has pace, can get to the byline. He must’ve hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times so far, unlucky not to have chalked up a higher goal tally.

When everyone is available we have much better quality in depth than most oppo fans probably appreciate, we’ve just been crucified by injuries, suspensions and international duty. Ange has done really well to keep us in touch with all the absences we’ve had. We also need a better CF option, depending on how Werner pans out. For me Richi isn’t a CL level player and that’s where we want to be.

think BJ is better on the right

Son is better down the middle these days

Richy good overall play apart from his finishing which obvs is key for that position and really does cost us tbf. Good versatile squad option.

Hopefully Werner regains confidence and can contribute goals being more clinical, offering an option in the middle and on the left

Kulu as a 8/10 vs some opposition better than others, however think he kinda has to play there this month now

having 4 options im confident in for the 3 CM positions, 3 CBs for the 2 CB positions is much improvement on the squad of late and Ange only had two windows!

do think this is the team unless Werner can show hes up to it. Bissouma needs to regain some form, think Ange will play him though and Bentancur and Sarr may alternate
