----------------------------------------------------------------------

Usual:
1st - 4th - CL
5th - Europa
6th - Europa (if FA Cup winner gets in Europe via league - very likely)
7th - ECL (as Liverpool won carabao and will qualify for CL)
What might change that this season:
5th place may get CL - if so, move everything below this down a place
If West Ham, Brighton or Liverpool win the Europa League, they will qualify for the Champions League, pushing Europa and ECL place down further.
If Villa win ECL they will qualify for the Europa League. If they also qualify for CL via league, this also pushes Europa and ECL place down further.

It’s always been a bit confusing, that’s why you aim as high as possible to try and make sure!
Rogers "good girl".
Just saying to her well done for asking the questions, even if he's not going to answer them.
Nothing in it whatsoever.
I see she has now said the same thing. Fair play to her.
Just seen it. If he said 'good boy' to a male interviewer it would be patronising. I don't think it's necessarily sexist but it's a bit cuuntish
You don't think calling a grown adult a boy or girl (like in the context of the interview we've seen) is a bit patronising?
If someone did that to me on a work call I'd be pizzed off. It's disrespectful
I'd take it in the spirit intended which she did.
I'd be quite pleased if someone called me boy because I'm nearly 50, although I appreciate that's a separate issue.
In this case she's asked difficult questions, which he's refused to answer, but he's then acknowledged that she did a good job interviewing him and pushing him, and as a consolation to not getting the answers she was looking for, he's told her she did a good job (and it made her happy as you can tell from her reaction). Simple as that for me.
It wasn't an attempt to patronise, like "look, just be a good boy/girl and run along".
I think it was. It's a cultural thing. She's laughing it off because that's what women do in that situation. If it was a bloke I don't think he'd have called him a boy at all because it would be confrontational.
Again, not saying he's a sexist. But we all know he's a weird character
I would say though that I would have edited his follow up (I've put words in brackets where the Beeb have summarised him rather than quoted him):
"Sadly, for me, in society now... they'll find something that is offensive to try and pin onto people (I base my relationship with journalists on warmth, respect and courtesy and that will never change)
Obviously when there was that little bit that was out there, a big bit, however it was, then of course I feel the need to address it....I have spoken to Jane and she wasn't offended, we had a laugh about it....She will continue to ask me awkward questions I'm sure, and I see her every week and we've good relations like I have with most people in my life, whether that's professional or social....I found it saddening as much as anything because I'm not that type of person. I could never be that, It's not how I am built."
to
"Yes, I have heard that brought up. Listen, if anyone who overheard the comment to Jane was offended or upset, then I apologise for that.
Jane had given me a tough interview, and because I didn't want to answer her questions as directly as she had wanted me to, I just wanted to finish the interview by letting her know that I appreciate she has a job to do and that - for what it's worth - I think she was doing it well and respect what she's doing. That's all it was. Because we work together regularly I felt that I could communicate that to her in that way and end the interview on a cheery note, and I'm pleased that Jane realised that, and I hope welcomed the comment in the vain in which it was intended. I've actually spoken to Jane since to confirm she was OK with everything, and I'm confident that that was indeed the case, which to me is the main thing.
Apologies again though to anyone who wants an apology or who construed the comment as inappropriate which I take on board, and apologies again to Jane for not wanting to divulge anything further in the interview. Well done also to the players and everyone involved in the win on Saturday."
Markandy playing well for Blackburn.
How big was the bit?

Classic line that. 'They said they weren't offended' so that means I've done nothing wrong. Where have I heard that before?

It's a pretty good line in fairness.
True. Especially as a white man. Works every time

Are you trying to offend me or Rogers?
Either way, not sure how you see this as being less 'OK' than saying something which isn't intended to offend someone and doesn't offend them?
Something to do with white men, and something you've heard before??
So Brendan, where does today's result leave the ambitions for the season?
Well, first of all Jane, I'd just like to apologise for being a white man.
Yes
And, actually Jane, I would like to not offend you, and not try to offend you.
Yes
but I know that that isn't good enough, because I'm a white man, and I know that isn't a satisfactory standard.
And how are the players feeling?
Well Jane, first of all, the players are all men as you know, and I would like to apologise for that as I know would the players.
what about the white ones?
well Jane, they'd like to apologise double. As would I for each of them.
I'm not trying to offend anyone

I was just trying to illicit a massive overreaction that would be amusing and also demonstrate how you really feel about the topic instead of just saying ok as if you're actually cool about it. AKA a bite
