Other possible full backs we could go for are:

1.Digne (Everton)
2. Doherty (Wolves)

Doherty was brilliant for Wolves. Great crosser, lots of assists. Question mark over his defending though...

Tierney at Celtic looks decent if Sessignon don't work out.

Can also play left back.

Played 45 games last season. Scored 8, 10 assists.

Not bad at all...

Probably not our "level" though...

I'd much rather overpay by £10m to £20m on a player that is a certainty to make an impact and difference to the first team even if it means £70m plus bids to get them, than blow £30m to £40m on players who will not make a difference.

No guarantee either way

Look at Sanchez at United

I'd rather we got someone with premier league experience and has done reasonably well in the PL, thus minimising the risk of player not being suitable

Wolves play a 343 or 352 though, he's been almost more of a right midfielder than a right back. That's why his numbers are so good. His defensive responsibilities are way less than they would be in a back 4 at Spurs, cos Wolves play with super-high wing backs being covered by 2 defensive midfielders (Neves and Dendoncker for the most part).

Two things, we have played 3-5-2 as Poch likes full backs to push up. We may not start with 3-5-2 but we do change during a game.

We play also 3-4-2-1. In both cases, the FBs are like wing backs.

Doherty would be fine in those situations.

We do play also 4-2-3-1 formation and he'll have to accommodate but I don't see why he couldn't

Can't be any worse than Trips and Aurier...

No argument there I do like Doherty. Good player. He got into the team when Wolves were in League One (played left back under Dean Saunders, if I recall) and he's gone from strength to strength as the club has improved.

posted on 14/6/19

Kenny Jackett, not Dean Saunders. I forget. He got into the team during that woeful era, anyway.

So we all agree this is the list of players we all want...

lo Celso
Ndombele
Doherty

Now we need to get Sandy to send it to Levy as a begging letter to him

You've benched a player who has scored MORE goals than the combined total of the ones playing and also on the sub?

Well done, Jose Mourinho 2

Just read this

Football Insider claim that Spurs will submit an offer of £50m for the 22-year-old this week, but that isn’t where the spending will cease.

The report also claims that a source has told the media outlet that Spurs will offer Ndombele a contract of £200,000 per week for five years, putting him level with Harry Kane.

No wonder Baldy is stalling

Though I did write few comments on this forum about the wage structure

Total fees related to the signing could reach a whopping £102m if Spurs are to be successful.

£50m is about £25m shy of Lyons valuation of the player. A valuation other clubs will undoubtedly meet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Way off, but there will probably be additional fees - number of appearances, sell-on claus, etc...

Putting all the various reports together I get the sense they'd take £65m for him.

In the grand scheme it just seems so pointless to try and haggle them down any further. They clearly won't take £50m so why bother offering that? The £15m difference is chump change nowadays, the player will clearly bring more value to Spurs than that so why not just get real and pay it now.
