As as outsider I'd consider that daylight robbery by Madrid.

This is as bad as one of the united fans wanting Varane, Modric, Bale on loan & £50m for Pogba yesterday.

Good opening offer imo. If there's any truth to it, I can Spurs settling for maybe £52m-£55m + Ceballos, which will in turn pay for Celso.

I bet them fackers put a clause in that they can buy him back after 2 years.

Buy back clauses need to become more of a thing in England.

posted on 19/6/19

I hate buy back clauses, I think they should be banned. Literally another way of making the big clubs bigger.

Top club sells a player to a mid-table club for £10 Million. Player does well, top club buys back for £15 Million and sells for £30 Million.

Good business, not denying that, but just don't agree with them being enabled.

Dunno anything about Ceballos. From what Ive read & seen I'd rather have NDombele & Lo Celso.

Given all the talk re Pogba I just cant see RM adding Pogba and then Eriksen on top of whats already been a 300mln+ summer spend. I have a feeling Eriksen might have backed himself into a corner. I get the ambition to play for RM Or Barca but if neither are an option are there many better options than staying at Spurs ???

As we all know its all about money, all this stuff about "wanting to try something new" is BS. The reality is he's been grossly underpaid (for whatever reason) we might to give him what I suspect he's always been after... close to parity with Kane

His public courting of RM might turn out to be a v foolish move

Not seen much of Ceballos but I’d take the proven Isco all day. Isco would tear up the EPL and imo an upgrade on Eriksen.
Isco + £30mill is a good deal. We can use the additional funds to top up the Ndombele pennies funds.

Eriksen said he wants a challenge

I think Poch himself gave the all clear to Eriksen to seek the Real Madrid fortunes, as this is the player's dream.
If Real come in with a decent enough offer that pleases the baldy and the player, I think Poch would take Eriksen to the airport himself.

Poch doesn't want to stand in the way of a player's ambitions.

But is $45m+Ceballos a good part-exchange deal?

Bear in mind, that Ceballos is 22-year-old and he hasn’t nailed down a regular spot in the first-team. So he is a surplus to their current needs. Ceballos made 34 appearances last season but started only 56% of the games and was substituted in 47% of those matches.

Even though Levy wants £100+m for Eriksen, the player's desired move being to Real Madrid, Madrid will look to offer only cash+player deals, this is to alleviate the FFP issue

So any move to Real will involve player exchanges.

Which player would we like to see coming the other way?

posted on 19/6/19

What is Ceballos worth? Lets say 30mil.

So if we can get 50mil plus him we are effectively getting 80mil for a player with a year left on his contract who has just had a poor season.

Got to be worth considering.

I was thinking that yesterday.
A couple of United fans were talking about Varane and Isco, as though they were a pair of bog standard players, who might fancy being makeweights in a deal that would see them playing Thursday night football under Ole.
Completely ignoring the title winners medals, and 8 champions league winners medals they have between them.
Dont think delusional comes close to explaining those views.

I don’t think it’s all about money. He’s supposedly had a pretty hefty contract offer on the table at Spurs for a while now. Not what he’d get at Real obviously, but still big. He’s been with us six years and I can totally understand wanting a new challenge - most people in life feel that way after a while in a job. Very few players are one club men, even less foreigners that don’t come through the ranks at the club. I don’t begrudge him a big move and a big pay rise at all, he’s been a quality player for us.

The problem is he shouldn’t have made those comments. Without anything definite lined up he’s put himself in a position where if bigger clubs have preferred options - such as Pogba - and don’t move for him, he’s gonna he left at Spurs having told the fans he’d rather move if something better comes along.

What’s worse is, he’s left us in limbo as we don’t know what’s happening with him so we don’t know fully what our transfer budget is.

What’s worse than that is, we could be in a situation where nobody buys him, he doesn’t sign a new deal and we are stuck with an underperforming player for a year who swans off to Real for nothing next summer, so we lose out both ways - on the pitch and financially as we really could do with that money to rebuild.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Id love to know what the offer from Spurs has been ? I don't begrudge him a move either but I think the way he's handled it has put both himself and the club in tough spot. There's no reason whatsoever we should be forced into RM cast offs just because he wants to go there and they just trim down a grossly bloated squad.

I fear we could end up with RM players that really don't want to be at Spurs/ take a pay cut simply because RM have to get rid. I'd rather have young hungry players that want to be at Spurs coz they see the progress, see the upside/opportunity and wanna play for a guy like Poch

Problem is, both these players, roughly the same age as Pogba, are far more consistent performers than Pogba, have 8 CL winners medals between them, so not sure how Pogba is worth 50 million more than both of them.
Seems ridiculous to even suggest it.

Re RM..... Lets be honest, nobody at that club has distinguished themselves in the last 12 months so I wouldn't be in a rush to sign any of them just bc they play for Real

posted on 19/6/19

Isco will be difficult as his last contract put him out of our range in terms of wages. Amazed no one seems to have come in for him though. He's a phenominal talent and offers much greater value for money than, say, Bale, who has inadvertently priced out every club in world football. Seems content with the golf course. What a waste of talent. Isco though, I can see having a similar impact on the PL as Hazard. Why United, City, Liverpool etc aren't knocking the door down is beyond me.
