Spurs had the chance to buy James Maddison at Leicester, very cheaply last summer, and he would have been the ideal understudy for Eriksen and we could have been in a better position with Eriksen with the knowledge we have Maddison there.
As a side note Maddison stats show that he averages 2.8 key passes per game along with 1.4 dribbles and 2.3 shots.
Christian Eriksen, by comparison, averages 2.1 key passes, 0.5 dribbles and 2.4 shots.
Being proactive and cheap is costing us

Maddison is a cracking player..... Id rather have him than any of RM cast offs

Never got the fuss with James tbh. Good tekkers tho.

Agree with this.
Hugely overrated player who appears to be living off a good WC in 2014.
Other than kerping the ballwell he was absolute bobbins against us in both legs.

Given Levy's reputation I still think its far more likely that what we offered Eriksen is way below market value than some underlying urge from Eriksen to try something new.
He plays in London for a team that makes the Top 4, has just played in a CL Final in a team full of internationals for one of the highest regarded coaches in European football.
Its no coincidence he's came straight out and said he'd like to join a club who pay stupid wages who, Oh by the way have a ton of players than play like him, have just signed Hazard , are publicly going after Pogba having already splurged 300mln....... "experience something new".... my ar5e... If there was 200K a week on the table from Levy today, he'd sign it before lunchtime
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did he play in the UCL final...didnt notice him on the pitch
Eriksen has been clever. He's now in the A1 position. He's now way more affordable to a buying club which will see him in demand and able to command bigger wages if they pay Spurs £70m rather than £100m.
If nothing materialises he knows we'll still offer him a decent contract and is well placed to ask for even more. It will be no hardship staying at Spurs.
he can take his time and see what comes along.
All this is bad for Spurs and our ability to plan for the season & other transfers.

Yes, this always causes issues
Must come up with a more agreeable solution
