What are your thoughts of Farage being milkshaked Winston?

The man in question lost his job and admitted assault.

If someone roughly grabbed my wife or daughter by the throat exactly as per the video, I wouldn't dismiss this casually and it kind of shocks me that the right-wingers here think it's fine to treat a woman like that if she is being disruptive or annoying in some way. No one has suggested that the woman in question is likely to be charged with any crimes. I have read today a detailed legal analysis of assault laws and how they can be moderated by trespass, and that strongly points to the minister's actions being unlawful.

Is this where we've got to as a country that we're happy to see peaceful protest (which for centuries has been a backbone of our democracy) as fair game for roughing up women if we don't agree with their politics? I really hope I don't look at it through these eyes if we start to see peaceful pro-Brexit demonstrators getting the same treatment. The more tribal things get, the harder it is to be morally consistent.

What awful times we live in.

Apparently they have found some racists posts from her.

Did you just make this up?

well she says she's not pressing charges so that will be it from there end I guess

The police can actually press charges without the consent of the victim, I believe. Doubt they will considering he’s an mp, however.

Thats what happened with John Terty I think.

Her name is Janet Barker - https://twitter.com/search?q=janet%20barker&src=tyah. Looking through this can't see any evidence of racist posts (although I'm not saying there aren't any).

As a bonus link here Mark Field yesterday with Jeremy Hu8nt's wife - https://twitter.com/smartysue/status/1142046497950838784

Robbing, yes I believe it was. If the police have sufficient evidence to press charges they can. I’d say there’s sufficient evidence to press charges for assault looking at that video. But they obviously won’t.

In the current climate, they will be far more likely to press charges because he is an MP.

So if I stand outside a nightclub tonight and film the bouncers grabbing people and pushing them out of the doors, being ejected, would you expect the police to follow that up and charge those doormen with assault?

Aren't you the guy who completely misread my post earlier and got all huffy about the wrong thing?

No, just as I don’t expect them to with the mp. I’m not sure what your point is.

Well it sounded to me as if you were implying that it's because he's an mp that they won't act.

I don't think that's the case, myself.

if the bouncers were doing that to a women who poses little or no threat then yes I would expect the police to follow up

It is because he’s an mp that they won’t act. What happens in a nightclub isn’t exactly comparable.

A better example would be if it was in a public restaurant. In which case, I think the police would follow it up.

Doormen are licensed and trained security guards operating in licensed premises.

This is just some bloke grabbing a woman around the neck and man handling her.

Another terrible analogy.
