If I was trying to spin it I would agree. How can it be anything but eye witness. Nobody keeps a record of near misses, bumps, shopping dropped, loss of pleasure walking. But none of that matters to you, not serious enough and no data.

Because laws are not defined by what amount basically to irritation.
Injuries and deaths are recorded and that shows his is not a serious issue.
Why do you think police were told by ministers not to punish people cycling on the pavement?
Stop blindly following a bad law and stop to think about it for a minute. Would you prefer your daughter ride on a pavement or on a road next to a texting truck driver?

Can you see? It's best practice from the Hague and what we are trying to achieve here.
Stop being ridiculous for a moment with daft choices. I wouldn't like my daughter riding where she shouldn't, or dodging out of the way of bikes where they are not supposed to be, on the way to school. It's not a choice between bad and worse.

Ah right, you obviously have a different and more dangerous type of cyclist then.
Get real.
This isn’t a serious issue and that’s why cyclists and pedestrians mix in many countries, and also why UK police have been told not to rigidly enforce this law.
There’s no evidence to suggest it’s a big problem and plenty to suggest it isn’t.
You’ve had an answer to the questions you pose but you don’t like it. Not sure there’s much else to be said.

I see it like Brexit/Boris Johnson being Prime Minister and the chance of Scottish independence.
The worse it is perceived to have become then the more chance of proper cycling infrastructure being put in place.
I shouldn't need to be a big problem, just a problem. If you are the one affected then it's a problem.
Look I get cars are dangerous, cyclists are vulnerable on the road, I am all for separating traffic and bikes.
But I don't need data to know that pedestrians and bikes don't mix in areas reserved for pedestrians, I know because I see it often. Not deaths or serious injuries, but bumps, children having to be hand held, loss of pleasure walking by the canal and port. I ride often in summer but stick to cycle paths.

You do, however, require data to back up your belief that the police should act or have some sort of zero tolerance approach.
It’s not a sensible policy and that’s why rarely does any country focus on it.

No set areas for cyclists/pedestrians on a recent visit to Hamburg when Sharon pavements, they all mix well. Because people accept cyclists and how they help reduce congestion. Just these ‘road tax’ paying drivers in the UK who are the issue
No I don't need any data. I'll be 74 in a couple of weeks and just want to enjoy walking and cycling, I'm not campaigning or expect to change anyone's mind. But I know when I see, predominantly young guys, charging through the pedestrian areas, doing wheelies, someone some day will get hurt. But apparently without data that's ok

Cyclists should pay for police overtime through an annual cycling permit.
52, would you like to see a path tax brought in so that cyclists have to pay to use our paths? They don't pay to use our roads as it is. Also they need insurance because what if I run one over and they dent my car. I cannot beat up a dead person for getting in my way, what satisfaction would that bring? I need money from them.
Was stuck behind a tosspot cyclist yesterday. Plonked himself right in the middle of the road making sure no driver could get past him. This is what I mean. They don't pay any tax and they hog our roads.
