Currans not good enough to be a main seamer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope. Ordinarily I'd pick Woakes there but he looks shot, and obviously Anderson appears to be knackered. If fit and firing I'd pick either ahead of Curran. Stone looks a good bowler but that would leave a long tail
Aussies have 2 gun quicks and Smith, England have a fragile batting line up against such good bowling, take Smith out of the Aussie batting and they are just as bad, that`s been the difference
What happened to Mark Stoneman ?

What happened to Mark Stoneman ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And Malan?
They also have Starc who even though wasnt his best still has a bowling average most England bowlers would dream of.
Aussies bowling attack much better than engs, smith didnt play the last game and eng won a miracle game, they have 4 wc pace bowlers who they can rotate and siddle whos really good as well
Mark Stoneman had 11 tests and didn't get a 100. he was garbage same with Malan Vice and Jennings.

Burns
Sibley
Northeast/Hildreth
Root
Stokes
Pope
Foakes
Curran
Archer
Broad
Leach
Crawley and Yates being the future top-order bats to watch and - imagine this - provide competition for places
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do like Foakes but I'd be tempted to keep Buttler in as WK and make him captain. His stats don't tell the whole story this series.
Barring that magic from Stokes,Aus has been the dominant force, more consistent & Smith incredible.. 3-1 would probably be more reflective of the series.. incredible England still have a chance to draw the series
This test team needs a rebuild.
Only batsman who should be guaranteed a place in the team are Burns, Stokes and Root. I would give Broad the captaincy as Root is clearly out of his depth and it has affected his batting to the point he is just an average player right now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He still averaged about 30 I think. Didn't look great, but... Well, compare his average to Roy's.
To be fair Stoneman hasn't been great for Surrey since being dropped by England and he doesn't deserve a recall.
I honestly would give the captaincy to Rory Burns
You cant make Broad captain at 33.. hes to old.
We need a coach who actually shows some passion. We had Duncan Fletcher and Andy Flower. both didn't take nonsense..
Bayliss doesn't care about England and never has. all he cared about was his 600 thousand a year. he was offered half and wasn't interested. then it was doubled he came running.
Fine margins, a no ball when Smith was caught out and the odd vital dropped catch cost a couple of hundred runs. A bad toss to lose also and Aussies certainly had the luck at the right times.
Should never give captaincy to passive players.
Root as ruined his career with deciding to take the job..I would have given it Bairstow before Root took it. But Baristow looks a busted flush now..The only option is Stokes now
First things out of Roots gob is to praise Australia and then mention how they had chances to win the how the will be up for the last test and try and square the series. same old rhetoric
I blame the world cup victory, England thought because you win a 50 over comp they can win a test series too, bad decisions made, now how do they change it and when, some at the top will say after this series is over, but I believe now bud new players against the Aussies next game, not against Bangladesh or Ireland, and send those 50 over players back to were they should be

Is burns Surrey captain?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep
Has been for several years and it's certainly not affected his run scoring
To lose a home Ashes series is devastating. Do not underestimate the loss at all, this was on home soil and we have been woeful. This isn't a test where we should do anything other than be embarrassed by our performance. Stokes, Broad and Burns are the only ones to come out of this with any credit. A shocking performance and massive changes are needed. I'd like to see the end of Roy, Bairstow, Denly and Buttler from the test side and changes above are needed too.
I think alot of people will forget the importance of home advantage in this series but we have gone backwards.
I know the loss of Anderson was big but look at the bowling options the aussies have and can rotate for each game. We are miles behind at the moment and that is unnacceptable.
Was the Aussie bowling really that good, or are they just being overhyped by the pundits to try an excuse some of the s*** batting performances?
Fair enough we did make them work for their wickets today, but for the most part the England batsmen have thrown their wickets away.
considering that we started the series as massive favourites and the Aussies as easy beats it is a very worrying defeat and this must be addressed urgently, to think that the Aussie bowlers adjusted to our conditions better than we did is just not on, but the mickey mouse batting from England has to be fixed first Roy is not a test batsman and too much fitting square pegs in round holes, wicket keeping needs to be sorted, Root should not be captain, why is Butler as a sole batsman at 7, so many questions to answer
