Chelsea’s revenues are massive. They have the neans to buy and pay the best players if they so wish to without falling foul of ffp. I suspect the youth route will be a shortlived thing once it becomes apparent that it won’t get Chelsea to the top.

But we’ve not really got any evidence to support what Chelsea’s transfer policy is right now anyway.

Of course, but it doesn’t mean you won’t sign older players either, or players that won’t have resale value by the time they’re done at Chelsea - that’s just unavoidable for a club that wants to compete for top honours.

I’m interested to see how Lampard views the more experienced players in your squad actually. And if there’s any in the market he may want to look at. He’s obviously keen on the youngsters but I’d be surprised if a player such as Lampard doesn’t value experience in a squad given how his career went.

Lampard will be looking at Azpi and Luiz to supply the experience in times of panic, youth have a tendancy to lose track of the gameplan in the case of falling behind and go all guns ablazing in search of an equalizer, a dangerous strategy in a league where almost all mistakes are punished.

Saw something the other day in terms of revenue and somehow our matchday revenue is still 3rd or 4th in the league. Really never been sold on the idea of having a huge stadium.

Similar capacity as Juve's stadium. Atmosphere is still great on night games and big games and...like where i sit

Think best thing for us this year will be a deep miraculous run in the CL, if we get quarters or semis somehow then players will still see us as a major player. If Mount, RLC,CHO turn into hot prospects, sign a couple players and with kante, rudiger, pulisic we could have a real team on our hands in a year or two

Nick, could do with the CL. But I think given the process you are going through with the ban and Hazard leaving players won’t have a massively negative view of Chelsea even if you don’t. You’ll always be an attractive club to top players.

It’s a good opportunity to bring some of those young lads on for sure. It’s difficult to predict how they’ll all do, and it’s unlikely you’ll have so many academy players having a big impact on the first team, but it’ll be good if they can stake a claim even as squad players allowing you to clear some deadwood on and focus resources on some top players in vital positions.

I think there’s good foundations at Chelsea but they are lacking top quality in attack and full back. But addIng a couple of top forwards and a left back (right back may not be a big issue if James can kick on) to what you’ve got could have the makings of an excellent team.

There are obviously still question marks over Lampard as things stand, but from your current position the squad building doesn’t need to be drastic with what you’ve got already. You don’t have that many old players either.
