The squad age is about prime right now with several of the top players Sokratis (31), Ozil (hopeless by 30), Auba (30) all getting on with limited shelf life - which eventually translates as limited resale value.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No point selling Sokratis now or in the next couple of years unless he becomes surplus to requirements as we won't get much, he's good enough to be a squad player for 2-3 years and will be first choice for now at least. It's not like we paid a fortune for him anyway.

Ozil, well we all know the story, nobody wants to buy him that can afford him and the 2/3 clubs that do seem to be interested can't afford his salary.

Aubameyang may be 30 but only very recently turned and has looked supremely fit in pre-season, again I'm not thinking about resale value for a player who won the golden boot last season, so long as he keeps scoring goals for the next couple of seasons then that £56 million we paid for him was a steal. Again, physically he looks in great condition so if we can get 2-3 more seasons out of him then we've had our moneys worth.

Yeah that's all how I see it too. I meant these guys should be/will be towards the end of their peak right now but we've got so many huge holes in the squad that with only limited funds available due to missing out on the CL we won't improve much until they're past it anyway.

Chronic problems at CB if that's all you have.

Improvement elsewhere though.

I’d still be disappointed if we get no new CB to play next season, even if we do get likes of zaha and Tierney to add to players we’re getting. Knowing arsenal I bet we’re focusing on convincing koscielny to stay rather than telling him to feck off and get a replacement in. At the moment we’re basically relying on Sokratis and holding to remain fit all season to give us any decent option at CB.

I can't bear another season with Mustafi.
We will not win anything with him in the team, the bloke is full of mistakes. Nightmare.

We would have done a lot better last season if it wasn't for schoolboy defending. Attack isn't a problem, bringing a decent winger in will be a great option though.

Add Xhaka to that.

We have some c.rappy players since we move to the Emirates. Some worse than these two but at least they were aware of it. Both of them seem to think very highly of themselves.

xhakas hit or miss, shouldn't be a starter every game but he has some alright games

What has happened to the once mighty Arsenal?
One of the richest clubs in the world (to be applauded) making 'offers' more akin to a sheister?

The suits at the club are still stuck in 1997.

We've stubbornly stuck to the 50:25:25 "golden ratio" when it comes to our income streams.

50% TV money
25% Long term sponsorships
25% Match day revenue. Basically tickets, beer & pies

A noble philosophy for any club that only exists to guarantee an annual profit. But a terrible situation to be in when you have London's answer to Ed Woodward running the football side of things.

I'm honestly not wumming, but due to the (stupidly?) low Zaha bid it just made me wonder where your money has gone. No, you're not City, PSG, Barca etc but you're not by any means poor. Great stadium, top dollar for tickets, huge following etc etc yet as a club you seem to be 'in trouble' regarding funds?
Anyway, thanks for the explanation and all the best

Do you think our second bid of £55m+£10m addons and a player on loan is low?

Looks like it is Pepe.
