Danny Rose was apparently available for 20 million too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's shiiite nowadays trust me mate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Better than Young or Rojo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rojo hate is just a meme at this point.
Rojo has been one of our best performers this year in his few appearances. No reason for Young to be playing ahead of him.
Remains to be seen whether Dan James is good.
But I’m just laughing at the whole notion. The idea that Manchester United had a good transfer window, in a summer we spent £140m on a squad that finished 6th and ended up weaker, will be forever one of my favourite things.
We brought in one good player. Maguire is facking average and James is just another youth player with potential.
£80m on Maguire, we deserve liquidating just for that.

We are living in Woodward cuckoo land when it comes to potential targets
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do we know Woodward is to blame? He spent 130 mill on two defenders because the manager wanted them.
Would he really have said no to 40 mill for Tielemans?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our net spend this summer was £60m. The wage bill for the forthcoming year decreased by about £20-25m because of the sales and loans. £35-40m was the entireity of the investment into the squad this past summer.
The collapse of the Dybala deal was a clear indication the money wasn't there.

Can't argue with this.
Several years ago we sold Evans for buttons as he wasn't good enough here to be a first XI starter. Then in the summer we bought his inferior CB partner for an embarrassing sum.
Spurs fans aren't happy with Levy atm but instead of going for their manager we should be going after their chairman.

Maguire is a good player but we’d have been much smarter spending that money in midfield and attack.
The Glazers withholding transfer fees because they are gonna sell up is up there with us having a good transfer window.

To be fair that's probably down to the outgoing Lukau rather than the incomings. If you had a striker that could put the ball in the net you'd be a lot higher.
Really was a mental decision to sell him without a replacement.

I don’t think we’d be much better off if any of Lukaku stayed. As bad as Rashford is we’re not creating anything either.
It’s also down to not signing a quality winger or midfielders, neo. We also spent £125m on facking Maguire and AWB, and signed a championship winger that looks every bit a championship winger. Our incomings weren’t exactly good when you look at the shiiiiit state season we’ve just had. We made the squad weaker, it’s not possible to rationalise the transfer window as good.
If I was manager in the summer the CB position would have been low on the priority list.
Yeah, was one of the worst transfer windows I can ever remember us having
People will point to other ones and use names of players coming in as an argument for a worse one but it’s more the ones that left and weren’t replaced that killed it for us
People talk about messes left behind by other managers but the next manager has a real mess ahead of him because he’s about to inherit a squad full of youth players miles from ready for the first team and the pressure that comes from life in the goldfish bowl
Same, it was clear as daylight we lacked quality players in midfield, up front and out wide (including full back from an attacking perspective) yet the club didn’t address this. In fact, they actively weakened the squad in those areas.
Yeah, was one of the worst transfer windows I can ever remember us having

Neglecting the midfield was just ridiculous. Tielemans and a good DM would have made a world of a difference.
Much more of a difference than Maguire makes.
I didn’t read the rest of the post. Yeah that’s true. But shows how bad things have been the last year. We finished second and instead of strengthening the squad and pushing on we’ve left our squad in a facking state, having spent over £200m. I’ve never seen a football club so reckless in the transfer market.
