according to Coyle Gardener "was in bits" after Villa game - couldn't play full game and there just incase

posted on 24/9/11

why on earth Holden has not even made the bench. We are a one man team. Gardner on bench and robbo on wrong.

--

Apparently, Gardner and Holden were both not 100%, rather let them regain fitness and then play a run than only play one and be injured again.

For me coyle has 5 games after Chelsea to turn this round.

Nonsense.

Why nonsense so if after Chelsea five games on we are bottom of the league we don't look at the situation. Fab you obviously have not seen much of us this year. Forget the level of opponent we have been awful.

Can't speak for the Corporal but I saw four pre season games in full, the Macclesfield game in full and every minute of every league game and I agree with him completely. Can we please avoid discrediting and pooh-poohing of people's opinions just because they happen to disagree? We need unity. We don't need panic.

But Pet rover, out of interest I'd love to know who you'd line up to replace Coyle with who will do a better job with no money. What's your plan?

Did you watch the match today? personally we did OK in the first half, Pratley had a very good effort to score.

Playing against the top teams shows your weaknesses more than lesser teams.

We haven't been good but I can't believe we are calling for Coyles head.

We have had the hardest set of fixtures by a long stretch, unfortunately, other simpletons that don't support Bolton neglect this fact.

We have been god awful, yes, but it is far too early to call for Coyles head.

Exactly this, we can't go chopping and changing managers every time things go awry. Performances have been terrible, but in terms of results realistically we are only 3 points behind target. Clearly the penny has dropped somewhat for coyle. He changed formation and it seemed to work first half. He dropped Davies, unfortunately Ngog got injured, and I imagine Knight may well have been dropped had Cahill not been injured. Today we essentially had our best 3 players out in Cahill, Lee and Holden. I fully expect us to get a good points haul from the 5 games post-Chelsea. Out of interest, how many points would you expect from those games?

Your opening six fixtures have been about as tough as they get and with Chelsea next its not getting any easier!! I suppose the stand out result was the defeat to Norwich, had you won the two games you expected to you would be midtable.

Calling for Coyles head after that run of fixtures is daft, he has not become a bad manager overnight and you have plenty of games against teams other than the big 5 to correct your position.

Five games! Just calm down and see the big picture. We will be fine this year, Coyle has spent little and is slowly turning it around. It takes time. Seeing articles like this disappoints me more than our season so far.

Err six games even ^^

My god, Aristodemus, we AGREE.

I agree completely with the OP Coyle has 5 games after Chelsea

Then another 27 and then the next season and the remainder of his contract and any extensions WAY to early to call for Coyles head yet

Well beaten by a better team.....that's all there is to it. The lads worked hard but the quality is just not there.
Nobody is particular to blame..... just my initial thoughts are that SKD was Arsenal's best player ......he gave to ball to them a good 90% of the time. Jussi beaten at the near post yet again. Of course going down to 10 men was the end of it.
Not to panic just yet but we do have the look of a bottom three side IMO.

I disagree, plenty of teams on similar points totals, most with much easier runs of games.

Come on guys, the only bad result was Norwich! We can expect to have done any better in the other games.

posted on 24/9/11

QPR have brought in some new blood and seem to be playing better....Norwich needs nowt to be said.......so we need three teams worse than us right now. Chances are we will still be dead bottom after next week.
Yes the schedule is horrible but to presume we will suddendly start winning against the lesser sides is not common sense.

posted on 24/9/11

How is it not common sense? We had a bad game, but we spanked QPR 4-0.

Coyle has alot more than 5 games Jesus wept.

I think their are two many fans that judge a book by it's cover. Looking at the league table you would say 'god Bolton are rubbish' however when you delve deep into the on goings since the turn of the year..

Chung Yong has been missing for pretty much all of it, as has Holden. Aswell as this we had the smallest squad and a poor set of players thanks to Megson. Add all this into the equation and add injuries to mears, Ricketts, Davis, Muamba, Mavies and Alonso that's have been lengthy and you can begin to see that we have had literally the unluckiest 10 months you could imagine a club to have.

Anyone who thinks Coyle has to go seriously needs not only perspective, but sense, intelligence, and most importantly a brain.

Everyone said Coyle needs to change it up,

Go 451 we said... He did that, and lost 3-0.

Drop Davies we said... He did an N'Gog got injured.

Play Eheater we said... We did and he got sent off.

Honestly in some fans eyes I think they enjoy moaning and the fact they ignore the important facts.

Today we were missing our 3 best players.. And went down to 10 men... I cnt help feel none of that was Coyle' fault.

Stop blaming megson it's been 18 months yes megson was dire but our current plight lies nowhere near megsons door. Zat knight is the only glimmer of megson left. Even robbo was signed permanently by coyle. Megson is done and dusted and I hate when Bolton fans say it is ok we are playing rubbish football or getting spanked every week cause mesons not in charge. Don't bother watching if that is your attitude cause I want to see us win regardless of who the manager is. Do I want coyle sacked no. Do I want us to be relegated no. But if he does not turn things round after our difficult run of fixtures and we remain awful then I would rather see coyle go than go down. I firmly believe that if you disagree with that statement and say coyle no matter than you are edging this club to oblivion. I really do want to see him succeed and before people jump on about the games we have played at the start of the season I was optimist we might get a point or two. I never believed that we get absolutely annihalated shipping an average of four goals a game. That's delegation form against the big teams not the norwichs thebig teams. Then to Norwich it took a sending off and a feeling of hard done by the ref to get us playing and by them it was too late. If you think I am being harsh read BBC website article and the bold paragraph sums it up.

Robbo was Megson' signing, We signed him on an 18 month loan deal and we had to sign him permanently at the end of it for £1.5m.

The reason for this deal was Megson wanted to sign him permanetly but we couldnt due to tax purposes, However 6 months later when Coyle wanted Wilshere on loan, we were forced to buy Robbo when probability is Coyle didnt want him.

the reason for bringin Megson up was last season, we had a poor squad strength last season, and it was due to the carp Megson signed, we had a lot of injuries and we were in a difficult position all season.

The fact is we are picking our 2nd team atm.. Look at our defence we played today:

Steinsson Wheater Knight Robbo.

Without injuries it would have been:

Ricketts Cahill Wheater Gardner.

Look at our midfield:

Eagles Reo Coker Muamba Pratley Petrov

without injuries:

Lee Reo Coker Muamba Holden Petrov

also we have: Mears, Alonso, Davies, Klasnic and now N'Gog injured. Aswell as wheater suspended.

Petrov er, you need to look at the bigger picture, its more than just Coyle team selection and tactics, we are missing alot of key players, and its affected who we play and how we play. Coyle cannot be blamed what ive just stated, thats why he deserves more games than 5, a lot more. We wont go down though, far from it. If you think we will, its because you have not once considered how many injuries we have.

posted on 24/9/11

Petrov er - Knight, Mavies, Klasnic, Muamba and S Davis were all Megson signings.

Megson has delayed the work of Coyle as in his first season, he could only release one player - Vaz Te, mainly due to Megson signing players on long term contracts which mean't Coyle couldn't move them on straight away - he even had to pay a few players off.

This meant that towards the end of last season, we were relying on Megsons players when the injuries started to bite us.

No but to assume we can match them is ......

posted on 24/9/11

Mavies klasnic and muamba are megson signings and are actually not that bad.

posted on 24/9/11

I never said they were, all I am saying is that the team is not devoid of Megson signings like you are making out?
