🔥Wolves v Aston Villa🔥

Wolves were so superior to Villa, don’t think a 4 or 5 goal win would have flattered us. Now that our front three of Traore, Jiminez and Jota are all firing they are a match for anyone. Great finish by Neves and excellent assist by Traore for the second. I thought Moutinho was superb today

Also Dendoncker probably had his best game in a Wolves shirt. He was immense in his defensive role.

Agree Dendoncker is there to stay. Once Boly returns we will also have a centre back that doesn't pick up a yellow until the hour mark.

It's not just what he provide defensively, Dendoncker is brilliant on the ball there too. It really calms us down and also helps set up attacks with some of his sweeping passes.

As good as we were, I thought that Villa side were really poor. I know they were missing Grealish, but they will really struggle if that was anything to go by.

Yeah Villa had nothing until we eased off a bit second half

Villa looked very limited and on that showing have every chance of being in a relegation battle.

When we signed Dendoncker I think many thought he would be Bennett’s replacement. Didn’t work out that way last season but he could well make that position his own. I thought Saiss played well too but whether he plays in defence or midfield he picks up so many senseless yellow cards.

That Wesley looked like he had won a competition to play up front today.

Agree Saiss is a liability, and Boly will walk straight back into the starting eleven when he returns to fitness.

Jiminez is possibly the best centre forward in the country at the moment. Only Suarez comes close in Europe for me. His all round game improves every week, and he never gives less than 100%.

Not one of our best performances, but fair play you made it difficult. Missing our number 1 keeper, central defender and Grealish wasn't a good way to start; then the number 2 keeper straight off and our LB before the interval were other blows.

Totally different from our game against Liverpool a week ago, where we ran them close. The side isn't the finished article and our striker doesn't perform. But I think we'll be OK. But we do need Grealish back.

We thrashed them 2-1 today, as DJ mentioned 4 or 5 would not have flattered us and Villa were poor. The relief was huge when Jimenez got the second but should have been job done by then.

Thought Traore was a brilliant again, Jota not quite at his best but always looked to go at them and cause problems. Moutinho and Neves on this form must be one of the best midfield pairings in the league. One day though the quality of the final ball and the finishing will come together and we'll giving someone a hiding.

I’d like to see how Wolves would cope without five first team players at our place, I’d guess probably not very well.

Having said that, we were appalling in the 1st half and where we are is a concern. Next game is a must win at home to Newcastle and we desperately need Jack Grealish back, despite what people said we were poor against Liverpool without him and poor today. McGinn seems to play a lot worse when Grealish doesn’t play too.

Despite where we are, I still think with a fully fit team we are good enough to be comfortably clear of relegation. We will need more investment in January I think, we need a quality striker and winger. Wolves as much as I hate to say will probably be close to top 6.

Injuries certainly did Villa no favours.

I'm sorry but I have little sympathy for that excuse. Villa spent a lot of money in the summer. Perhaps if they had spent a bit more wisely and gone for quality instead of quantity they would have backups to replace injured or suspended players. Wolves have played 29 competitive matches since the start of the season at various times they have had to do without Neves, Doherty, Jota, Saiss, Gibbs-White, Boly and Bennett butdespite having the smallest squad in the league, have still only lost 5 of those 29 games.
So no, feck off with your excuses.

Unless you're top six you're never "comfortably clear" of relegation.

How you doing?

I'm certainly not making excuses for them, they can get fecked as far as I'm concerned but pretty bad luck to lose you're back up keeper 6 minutes in.

We played today without a recognised centre back. I get that injuries hampered Villa, but it is hardly like we haven't had our own issues.

Yes agree, Villa are w@nk and can go feck right off

Villa spent £144.5m in the summer and if they haven't got a decent midfielder to play when Grealish is injured, more fool them. Every team has a talisman, Man City have de Bruyne but I didn't notice them falling apart when he was injured.

A few games ago we lost Ryan Bennett after 14 minutes with a groin injury. He is now fully fit but can't get his place back because his replacement is too bloody good. It's all about strength in depth, we have it, Villa don't.

See the anti Saiss squad are out again.
I thought he had a great game, but of course his booking overshadows that.
Think you need to look at the stats

Or to put it another way, how about we take 5 players off the bench today and field this team:
.........................Ruddy
........Bennett......Coady......Killman
Doherty.........Neves.......Perry........Jonny
........Traore.........Jimenez........Neto

Would that side have beaten Villa today? Damn right they would!
