There must be a lot of remainers hurting this morning. They keep going on about a second referendum, but my feeling has always been that the country would vote to leave again should a second referendum take place. I think that the results last night are a strong indication that this would be the case. There has been a lot of talk in the press and polls about how opinion had swung to remain since the referendum, but that doesn't reflect what I have experienced in in real life. Time for all the bickering and pro-remain propaganda to stop now. We just need to focus on finally getting Brexit done so that we can refocus as a country. Hopefully a decent labour leader will emerge, or perhaps a new party will be formed that properly represents the masses, as we really don't have anyone at the moment.

"We just need to focus on finally getting Brexit done so that we can refocus as a country."

I wonder who said that

I did.

I wonder who said if *first*

You realise it's absolute nonsense?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No it isn't. The country has been in limbo for over 3 years since the referendum. Businesses delaying all kinds of deals and investments until they know whether it is going to actually happen. I have a mate that is a director of a large building firm. They have had to shelve a £90m housing development until things become clearer as to what is going to happen. There are countless examples of such deals being put on hold.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is. It will take many years to negotiate a FTA with the EU alone. Especially one on the scale that restricts as much damage to the economy as possible.

The NI protocol will take a bare minimum of 5yrs to implement.

Creating customs stations, upscaling, redesigning our ports (only three of which have the tonnage capacity to be unscaled). Creating new infrastructure, IT systems, VAT, and then rolling it out.

The government also don’t exactly have a great track record on delivering projects on time. Never mind one as enormous as this.

There will most certainly be an extension after 2020.

I don't really understand what point you are trying to make here. I haven't said Brexit is going to magically happen overnight. I said that it is time to focus on getting it done. The process take however long it takes, but we haven't really even started yet, 3.5 years after the referendum took place.

How does that even work?

Doesnt alter the fact though.

Oh yeah we'll get it done by 2020 (complete lie).

It's right up there with their "Britain derserves better' after running the country into the ground for 9 years.

I would like to congratulate the Labour Party on achieving something I thought would be impossible.

Electing and sticking with a leader who was more unelectable than Neil Kinnock.

It takes a special kind of incompetence to do that.

I wonder who said that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder who said if *first*

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really understand what point you are trying to make here. I haven't said Brexit is going to magically happen overnight. I said that it is time to focus on getting it done. The process take however long it takes, but we haven't really even started yet, 3.5 years after the referendum took place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Johnson has promised to have Brexit done by 2020.

It won't.

What I am saying is it's going to continue to dominate the political landscape for years to come
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What Johnson said is irrelevant. I didn't even mention him. I merely gave the opinion that it is time to focus on getting Brexit done now. And you seem to think that is nonsense. Whilst waffling about why it won't be done by 2020, which I never said it would be. You seem a little confused.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not in the slightest.

If you didn't think Brexit would be 'done' why (ad verbatim) quote the misleading claim made by Johnson the Tories?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I said we should 'focus' on getting it done. As in, stop all the messing about and delaying and accept that it is going to happen and concentrate on ensuring that the transition is as smooth as possible. You honestly think that after all the delays, and with how complex the whole process is, I am dense enough to think that it is going to magically happen practically overnight?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what the Tories have said. That come what may we leave Dec 2020.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So fecking what? Why do you keep bringing up what Johnson and the Tories have said?

You said that it was nonsense that I believe that it is time to now focus on getting Brexit done. What do you believe is the right thing to do then? To waste even more time? That for me is nonsense. We have been in limbo for 3.5 years. Time to push on and try to make the best of it.
