https://www.globalresearch.ca/history-of-world-war-ii-americas-was-providing-military-aid-to-the-ussr-while-also-supporting-nazi-germany/5449378

My favorite part is the quote from then president Harry Truman making money at the expense of Germany and Russia destroying one another
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only relevant point was that the US expected to be compensated by every country they helped at a later date, and why not?

The quote by Roosevelt was in a time where the US wanted to look like they supported neither side of the war. They had no obligation to anyone except themselves and US public supported that stand. Its what voters wanted to hear anyway.

You need to put yourself in their shoes. You don't just come out and attack Germany like you would in today's world. It was a different age. Americas obligation was only to itself, until they entered the war themselves and had more obligations.

yeh to most Americans the war seemed a long way away
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was until it came to their shores. As to why Germany (Hitler) decided to wade in against the US is incredible

Hitler thought he could steamroll Russia with the same blitzkrieg tactics that crushed Poland.

It started well and they had Russia at their knees, but the harshest winter in decades slowed the German advance. Russia were able to relocate thousands of tank factories deeper into Russia and were able to out-produce Germany. In the time it took the Germans to build a Tiger, Russia could build at least 25 T34, T43, or T44 - Even the Panzer IV was complicated and required huge resources/man-power.

The Russians were able to build simpler tanks in huge numbers. Their losses were huge, but were able to replace their loses at a much quicker rate than the Germans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In developing the the ability to out-produce Germany, the Russians had a lot of help.

They could never have done it before the end of winter if it wasn't for the USA and the allies and would have been defeated if winter had arrived wothoutvyhem being prepared. It was a race against time, having been badly hurt by Germany in the initial encounters.

Russia did not save itself, nobody saved themselves on their own.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed.

But they still managed to move entire factories, some 300 miles deeper into Russia. We're talking thousands of factories here and millions of people.

That is simply amazing and it kept them in the war. They did this all themselves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I just told you they did it with help from allies, they didn't move these factories on their backs. They had trucks and machinery from the US.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think they had any help from the allies.

They moved the factories mostly by rail. The military, Russian women and children, and POWs did the move.

But if it makes you feel better that a few US imported trucks helped, then I guess we can both be right

Read the global research link posted on this thread. They even got rail equipment from the US.

Also, why are you getting personal, it doesnt make me happy, just saying what I think I know.

By the same logic, if it makes you happy that Russia did not get help then I guess we can both be right.

Specifically, the USSR received 2,586,000 tons of aviation fuel, an amount equal to 37% of what was produced in the Soviet Union during the war, plus almost 410,000 automobiles, making up 45% of the Red Army’s vehicle fleet (not counting cars captured from the enemy). Food shipments also played a significant role, although very little was provided during the first year of the war, and the US supplied only about 15% of the USSR’s canned meat and other nonperishables.

This support also included machine tools, railway tracks, locomotives, rail cars, radar equipment, and other useful items without which a war machine can make little headway.

Ahh you're specifically saying resources.

I was just replying to the comment that the allies actually helped move the factories!

I know the US exported materials and fuels to Russia

All I said was that Russia physically moved the factories themselves.

Of course they did it themselves, with help and equipment from the USA and allies, without which for sure the winter would have elapsed before they were anywhere near ready.

They got their asses saved to be honest.

The workers were all living in tents as well. In winter.

There were 10 of thousands of elderly, kids and ill men and women that did the bulk of the work. Conditions must have been horrendous.

However all the equipment would have counted for nothing if the Russians were not prepared to pay the price in blood, something no other ally came close to.

Agreed. Obviously not taking anything away from those heroes.
