Other than seeing lots more people (and now not just Chinese ones) wearing face masks on the tube, I’ve not seen anything different and gone about my business as usual
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wearing facemasks is a waste of time too. They are not designed to keep out finer particles such as viruses and we breath out humidified air which will moisten them and make them ineffective. Your eyes are also mucous membranes and pose just as much risk as inhaling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you're saying they don't reduce the risk?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, you're wrong.

I don't think it is dangerous to the population as a whole but it's new and we need to study and understand it better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe just get the Chinese centre for infectious medicine round the corner from the "market" where it started.
I've a feeling they understand it very well

But in all seriousness if this does turn into a pandemic it will be scary times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re saying 80% of people could catch it, but then the survival rate is pretty good.

Well I'm not. I work for a pharmaceutical company which has aseptic manufacturing. My job amongst other responsibilities, involves ensuring areas stay sterile and proving the interventions from people are control and do not affect the sterility of the area
Unless your mask has a respirator, your eyes are covered and you are covering exposed skin such as your hands (as well as routinely sporicidal cleaning areas with people in); you are doing very little to reduce any risk of spreading bacteria or viruses.

What I really hope doesn't happen is people start to panic buy. Idiots.

Already been stock piling Super Noodles.
I actually hope Governments keep this Coronavirus running until Jan next year so the AFCON gets cancelled and we miss Salah & Mane for about 6 weeks.
