It is individual play and latching on mistakes. I’m sorry hardly any goals are well created team goals. I don’t buy this bs from Ed and Ole. Both subpar at their jobs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Martials goal against Watford was an excellent team goal. The fact the finish was superb doesnt mean you discount the play that came before it.
“Investment in players” is likely the payment of transfer fee instalments.
I cannot think of any contract renewals during that period that might have seen significant re-signing bonuses or outstanding performance-related clauses that might have been met?
Btw, Martial’s performance-related clauses have now closed. Only one was met (25 goals in the four seasons after his signing), bringing the total transfer fee to £43.2m.
You trying to tell me we create like city and Liverpool

Well things are looking better on the pitch at the moment, are they not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really. No.
a little purple patch is not an indicator were on the up.
our season has been a disaster on the pitch, we have lost nearly a 1/4 of our league games. were in a fight with the likes of wolves for the europa league. the squad is still littered with players not good enough. A manager that is also not of required standard.

So you both seriously think that continuing with a revolving door policy regarding managers will bring the required stability to the club and provide the instant overnight fix you crave for the long standing, underlying problems, that are quite evident at the club?
Stability is no guarantee of success.
neever has been.
getting in the best man for th job is.
Poch is vastly better than what we have.
although it should of been ancelotti.
dunno what you're laughing at, this seasons been a shambles, Ole love the bloke, but he is an imcomeptent sub par manager.
Not a popular opinion I know but the real mistakes were made early post SAF. For me it seems like Ed and ole are rectifying some of those and the last couple of windows have been decent not just in the signings but what appears to be a complete overhaul with those being let go.
A bit of bad luck with injuries hasn't helped and neither has the Pogba saga but overall I don't mind a "dead" season or even a couple if long term we get in likes of Bruno and make strides towards a longer term plan
Just to add I would prefer a manager like Poch over ole, although I do have my doubts about Poch.
I just think ole is a stop gap to get us through the overhaul and implement a base for a manager like Poch to take over and take us forward.
I don't think managers like Poch would be happy to be in the position we are are in where 3 years would mean not competing
Not a popular opinion I know but the real mistakes were made early post SAF.

But probably true... fergie made many errors at the end. As Ed says, it is a long-term process (yet he has still sacked 3 managers)
You build the foundations from the ground upwards. Ole needs time to continue to clear out the dead wood, (he is still saddled with players on stupid contracts from previous managers who no other club wants), another couple successful transfer windows, and also a bit of luck along the way.
think city were thinking long term stability when they hired pep?
so have you made a profit or loss for the year?

Just curious has Ed always said the bit about it being long term?
I only ask because after Moyes I felt that we had a sticky plasters approach to stay competitive, hence the signings of falcao shweini and then likes of Matic and Sanchez.
Personally my view is that established managers like Jose needed to make those type of signings to stay competitive but it put us further into turmoil as what we should have done after saf was allow for a couple of years of rebuilding as I believe that although it was a prem winning team saf left it was full of average and aging players. A new manager was going to struggle. Of course Moyes doing his overhaul in one go didn't help. It needed to be gradual something I think ole is doing.

Jesus.... Really?
They prepared for pep years in advance with soriano and txiki coming on board
They'll take a similar playing style going forward
Their club is definitely taking a long term approach

City took about 5 years putting pieces in place before topping it off with pep.

Wtf are you talking about
They literally put a club structure in place a couple of years before he joined them... Barcas structure
Their signing have all been early or mid 20s for years... All to suit a style of play
If pep goes he'll be replaced by someone with a similar approach.... Just like barca have done over the years... Because that's the approach they're trying to replicate
The days of city throwing stupid money at flavour of the month players and turning over lots of playing staff every year like in the early days of the takeover are long gone
