Well things are looking better on the pitch at the moment, are they not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really. No.
a little purple patch is not an indicator were on the up.
our season has been a disaster on the pitch, we have lost nearly a 1/4 of our league games. were in a fight with the likes of wolves for the europa league. the squad is still littered with players not good enough. A manager that is also not of required standard.

I have a sneaking admiration for the way Stretty digs in when he says something so demonstrably wrong despite universal derision and overwhelming evidence. He's like Winston without GCSEs.

Winston has GCSEs?
I'm suggesting that City enacted a long-term plan to build a stable club based on the Barcelona model. As part of that long-term plan, they prepared the conditions so that Guardiola could enjoy success. As part of that long-term plan, they indeed hired Guardiola. And the plan will undoubtedly build on Guardiola's legacy by appointing a coach with a similar philosophy once he leaves. You can't get more stable than that approach.
there is no guarantee that will ean they will be successful after he leaves.
They are as successful as they are because he is the best manager in the world.
simple as that.

And yet with their model they won the league with their previous two managers, and an evolving core of players who have adapted well to successive coaches. Of course it's hard to replicate the X-factor that Guardiola gives them, but lack of stability is the last thing we can accuse City of.
Obviously, the UEFA fine could change that, and let's hope it does.

Good grief!
And yet with their model they won the league with their previous two managers
===============================
Because they had a great team. But didnt enjoy the same level of success as under pep, why? Because pep is the best.
The Berties are actually a great example of what a (rich) club can do with a half decent plan.
Unlike United which is a great example of what a (rich) club can't achieve without a half decent plan.
Which brings me back to the OP
If you want really change at the club, I would look at Ed, the Glazers, their vision for the future, and the bigger picture.

Not quite the same, but let's not exaggerate. Before Guardiola they had won 2 out of the last 5 titles; under him they're heading for 2 out of 4. It's not a dramatic improvement in success levels, although I'd certainly agree that Pep has improved them.
Where your original comment was so wrong was putting in the word 'stability'. Even if it's impossible to sustain the magic ingredient that Guardiola adds, there's nothing unstable about him being temporary when the overall long-term planning before, during and after his employment is so coherent.
But Ed says his long term plan is being implemented so we’re all good.
