The cup is Mickey Mouse cup these days , and league is a joke cup 👍 just a sign of the times these days

Team selection annoyed me last night TBF

But it was expected, its all about the PL and CL for Klopp.

The Fa cup used be a great cup to win at the old Wembley a great occasion, now it’s so dull as competition

In Liverpool's position it's absurd not to take the FA Cup seriously.

Partly because the league is one and partly because of the Watford defeat, it was a chance to bury any suggestion of poor form.

I also think it's absurd for clubs that have no realistic chance of any other silverware not to take the FA Cup seriously... fans still absolutely love the FA Cup final and winning a trophy. It's a massive deal.

The only time I think you can reasonably say that managers can rest players is when they're winning so many trophies that it becomes less important.

It's a shame and I think back to our domination of the league and it started with a cup win.

I think the winning mentality is something which is under rated and can be the difference in tight league runs.

Just a thought here but I think the CL win is what has you where you are to a degree in terms of mentality. Had it not been the say an fa cup run and win may have been the next best thing.

It also helps those players not used to winning to gain something.

Personally see it as a mistake to not give it attention for all teams

Whilst I agree, and it was the Liverpool fans who hit me thinking about this, I don't want this to be seen as a Liverpool bashing session. That wasnt my intention and tbf like I said I just think it's disappointed fans rather than klopp etc.

I just think it's a shame we don't value these cups. At the end of the day it's trophy hauls that make teams great

i think we got more money from the cwc than we would from winning both the fa cup and league cup

In fairness I think the team Klopp put out last night was more than good enough to beat the Chelsea side that was put out. Maybe one of Salah and Firmino should have started with Gini in midfield but other than that it was a strong team, we just didn't play amazing.

oh and ofcourse most of us would want to win those cups, since we are going to win the league we can't really moan to much can we?

The board have literally sanction Klopp not caring abput the domestic cups. Ill see if I can find a link.

Sadly the fac up doesnt have the same prestige as it used to.

for me they should scrap the 4th place qualification in the league and change it to the winners of the fa cup

If the board sanctioned Ole not caring about the cups it wouldn't remotely change my mind as a fan.

I value the cups extremely highly whilst we are in them and am glad we are in them and desperately hope we go all the way and put every effort into winning them whilst we are still in them.

When we go out I am glad we went out because I'd rather not be in the cups as they are mediocre. More important things to concentrate on.

I don't watch cup games.

I watched the game and thought it was a strong side too. And if you had won it was perfect for some players to get game time

Team we put out last night should have beaten Chelsea. Chelsea had players missing too.

Villa game was just unfortunate. Club, players, management and fans all wanted the world club cup rather than league cup and that sacrifice paid off.

With our position at the moment, not just league but where we are in terms of rebuilding etc a cup run would be fantastic.

I want us to focus on the Europa over a top 4 finish tbh. A trophy brings its own delights

What if a championship club wins it? Our coefficient rating will drop through the roof.

I like both the cups,, FA especially.
I would want us to try hard for them both, but I would understand if we didn't put the first team out for the league cup, but still a strong team.
I think it's a bit daft demeaning them, except for half a dozen teams it's there only chance of a trophy.

I have an issue with it but am willing to let it slide based on the fact the last 3 seasons we have been competing every season for the two major trophies.

If that weren't the case I'd be pretty piissed off about us not taking the FA cup seriously, less so the league cup.

how often does that happen though?
and what are the chances of it happening if there was a cl place as an incentive

That’s a bad idea in theory, but in practical terms it would still be a bad idea.

Thing with cup runs is that you get to give game time to players who maybe second choice etc. Blended in with first teamers. It allows for continuity and injury replacements.

Might be a bad example with his recent mistake but if ddg was injured I have seen enough of Romero in cup games to see he would slot in

Playing all youngsters or second choices doesn't help anyone imo. As you need to be used to each other. And that can't happen if it's a totally different team mate around you

why?

there is zero incentive to win the fa cup if youre a top team other than a europa place... which lets be honest noone wants

it would give clubs the incentive to actually try to win it

Id happily do away with the league cup and bring back the Cup Winners Cup
