That winter break has inexplicably derailed our season. We have now started to kick on again but just feel that we took too many games to get our sharpness back. In which time, we lost our unbeaten run and out of both FA cup and CL. Scrap winter break from now on!!

My point is had we played like we were before the break, we would most probably have got an away goal which means that the game would have been different today. The loss of momentum has screwed us. We are only now getting our sharpness back but unfortunately too late. The lack of an away goal is what did it for us.

I'm not even a Liverpool fan, and you're clearly a moron. No managers' game plan is to concede 35 shots in a game. A game plan would involve trying to actually stop their front line from getting shots away.

Why does that happen? Because Atletcio's game management worked perfectly, they limited Liverpool to a small number of clear cut chances which is actually what they always try to do to big teams and they are very good at it idiot.

But for a little bit of luck, they'd have lost this game. I'm not saying that they weren't worth the win, because obviously they defended well, but to say that it was entirely down to game management is ridiculous.
If your game plan is let them take as many shots as possible, and pray your keeper is having a worldie, it's a crap plan. It's the same kind of plan as Burnley ffs.

You're confusing "having loads of shots" with "having loads of shots that are actually worth taking". Lots of the Liverpool shots were out of desperation and the 34 is buffed up by an extra 34 minutes of play if you include the extra time and stoppage time in extra time.
Game management is about managing phases of the game and they did it beautifully.

That winter break has inexplicably derailed our season. We have now started to kick on again but just feel that we took too many games to get our sharpness back. In which time, we lost our unbeaten run and out of both FA cup and CL. Scrap winter break from now on!!

I am not saying today. We were great today but this was lost in the first leg. Had the first leg been today, we would have smashed them in Madrid. As it turned out, we were feeble there with no away goal and got our just desserts today. That winter break broke our momentum.

My point is had we played like we were before the break, we would most probably have got an away goal which means that the game would have been different today. The loss of momentum has screwed us. We are only now getting our sharpness back but unfortunately too late. The lack of an away goal is what did it for us.
