Even if the league does end up being suspended, I would be very surprised if it wasn't completed. Whether it is stopped for weeks or even months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But then you the problem of when does next season start ? Call it all off until next season. Health and safety comes first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if this is still going on then it might not start anyway. Makes more sense to complete this season and if necessary skip next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, that won't work. How can you start a season in September to complete 1/3 of the previous season's games?!

It's not all about Liverpool. People are dying.

I suggest scrap this season, and start again next season (using the 18/19 standings for CL).

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How are relegation/promotion decided then? Huge amounts of money involved to just call it off

Slovakia just closed it's boarders and closed its airports.

They have 16 cases.

We'll probably have 500+ today and nothing is being done.

SCRAP THE PL SO WE ALL HAVE A CHANCE

Not my problem. I guess no relegation/promotion.

As long as Spurs have CL next season and Liverpool don't win the PL, I'm happy

Never said it was about Liverpool. It's just the fairest thing to do for everyone. It's not as if it would be just the Premier League, it would likely apply to the rest of the continent as they suspend their leagues.

What happens when players start getting the virus? The coaching staff, physios, etc... Takes one person and BANG, 2 week quarantine for the entire squad.

Apparantly there's a PL club with 3 players in quarantine.

Real Madrid's squad are in quarantine. How will games continue (even behind closed doors) if there aren't any players?

posted on 12/3/20

PL clubs can survive by playing all remaining games behind closed doors.

But lower league clubs (perhaps even some Championship clubs) will really struggle without the extra matchday income they would lose out on. Many could go bust.

Not really a solution to just say play all games behind closed doors.

posted on 12/3/20

the money in the pl shoul mean they can finish it behind closed doors. its the issue lower down where they cant go on without gate receipts. selling the 3pm kick offs to sky or amazon prime could help prem clubs cover gate receipts too.

if its suspended itll be for 2 weeks to a month which theyll probably play into the summer break to make up. If they end it therell be legal action taken if they award us the title no doubt city will take legal action etc etc even though theyre so far behind, either way itll have to be agreed upon by all clubs, FA cant decide alone without getting sued to fack.

theres only 2 months left of the season, albeit busy 2 months.

Nothing off the table. Including total shutdown. Seem to be heading that way anyway.

Fulham May have a case but it’d be funny to see Man CIty go to court to try and prove they could make up 25 points before the season ends.

Well you've lost 3 of your last 4 games.

Until it's mathematically impossible, then there's still a chance albeit a slim one

Therefore, cancel the PL season. Start again next September.

city might just concede it and agree to award us it, being one of the few clubs, issue would be deciding cl and el spots and ofc relegation....

Correct.

But you've still LOST 3 of your past 4 games and narrowly beat Bournemouth at home.

City could quite rightly claim that the wheels are indeed falling off.

We would counter by saying we didn't have a full strength team in the FA Cup and that the CL result would likely have gone the other way if we had our first choice keeper.

Well Klopp should have selected a better team.

Klopp should have purchased a better backup keeper.

It's likely that games will be played behind closed doors.

Also understand restrictions could be put in place to prevent broadcasters showing 3pm games, to ward off people going to the pub to watch instead.

They can claim it all they want. They’ve no way of proving they’d make up 25 points in 10 games. Our form over the season is proof it’s unlikely.
