Nothing will be moving in or out of countries over the next few months, probably a lot longer than any of us could have ever believed just a week ago.

Sandy, this is not correct.

Goods will continue to flow. It’s people that are currently restricted, lorry drivers are still able to accompany their goods.

If they stop lorry drivers coming through, goods will STILL flow via unaccompanied services. The trailer will be put on the ferries and trains and be pulled by a tractor unit at the other end. Ie no cross contamination with steering wheels etc.

This. If there's one thing we don't really need to worry about, it's supermarket goods being available. Even in a travel ban, obviously the priority will be to ensure that imported consumables are still able to cross borders and reach shops.

That's not the same as being able to get an online shop delivered, of course. Where I live Asda have a delivery slot every half hour, every day - even then they're fully booked best part of a week in advance. Just got to plan ahead and remember that even in a lockdown, supermarkets will stay open (albeit in controlled circumstances, I should think). People gotta eat. Lockdown isn't the same as quarantine, or a curfew or a police state or anything like that. You'll still be able to leave your house, just need to self-police about how much you expose yourself to risks.

The issue, for me, is that getting through any lockdown period will require people to look out for each other - for example going out and doing a food shop for elderly neighbours, that sort of thing. That's not something that comes easily to people nowadays - the political climate at the moment, and the madness with toilet rolls recently, shows people think of themselves first and foremost and screw the rest.

People are just facking stupid.

There were queues of 2-300 waiting outside Lidls yesterday in my area. Queues of cars trying to get in to Tesco. A 70 year old bloke was run over because people are trying to get to Tesco quicker.

Selfish caaants filling their trollies with EVERYTHING they can get their hands on.

People are selfish idiots, yes. Then again, what else would you expect when our Government was literally voted in on a me-first platform.

Goods are still flowing with slight delays on air and sea transit. Road still basically unaffected.

I'm more worried about people's reactions, rather than the virus itself.

Luckily, my job is secure and I can easily work from home.

Stupid people make me angry.

Oh sandy give it a rest. For 99% of us, this is just another cold-type virus.

We'll likely catch it, feel crap for a small window and then recover like 99% of people.

so I'm not concerned by the ill effects of the virus itself, I'm currently fairly fit, no underlying health issues that I'm aware of

HOWEVER, I'm concerned for my work

I work in sales and we sell merchandise, corporate gifts and giveaways etc

I currently have absolutely no one to sell to because:

- events are being cancelled so no requirements for giveaways there at trade shows there

- staff are being sent to work from home which means no companies to sell to for branded goods for their workforce

- can't sell to the NHS as they're focusing on peoples health right now

- Can't sell to school,s universities, colleges as they're shutting down

- can't sell to airlines or travel companies as they're cutting back

my colleagues have voiced similar concerns and it makes me worry for the future of our company and subsequently my job, my mortgage, my bills, my wife, my kids etc...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kind of in the same boat as the company I work for is a health company and already projects and go lives are being cancelled with the NHS (understandably).

We have been told jobs are safe because we are in 10 years contracts with customers but we might miss out on the annual summer bonus.

From a concerned individual point of view, I am shopping like normal and making sure I don’t deprive the vulnerable and elderly of essential items they need. I’m a fit and healthy 33 year old guy, so I can make do with my normal weekly shop with my fiancée instead of behaving like the pathetic people ransacking the supermarkets. From a selfish point of view, I’m
So f*** off with it all. Supposed to be getting married in southern Italy in 2 months. Highly unlikely this is going to happen now, so will have to postpone it to another date which means the ball ache of our guest being able to come another time. So down about it all completely ruined our 2020 this bulls**

Not normally one to stand up for Sandy but tbf mate, if anyone is entitled to feel a bit nervous about COVID, it's people in the most vulnerable age group.

Granted I don't know if Sandy has any underlying health issues, of course. But still.

ordered my repeat prescription online this morning Sandy, all went through not a problem, over exaggerating again but certainly getting some mileage out of it.

Yes but some of that 99% aren't selfish сunts and are concerned about passing it on to the vulnerable and about Boris and his team stating 80% of the population will get it and 1% will die, which is nearly half a million people, in the UK.

Yes but I'm not the facking PM. The effects of people's panic and hysteria will have a far more long lasting effect on society than the illness.

I'm not scared of covid and neither should 99% of us, I'm terrified of people's reactions.

This is the most important thing….A world wide recession will follow. Mass unemployment will be the result. I am really concerned.

Hundreds of large businesses, that people rely on for their livelihood will go bust, the government can't bail them all out.

This will put thousands into unemployment, and then boom we're back in austerity again, huge cuts to public funds because there's no money left again.

Not exagerating at all mate. All of my local shops are bare of food already, and this is like only the first few days.
