I've recently split with my Mrs of 20+ years, gave all savings to her n the kids.

Spent money on setting up a new business, relying on people being out n about. Have to make a certain amount a month to pay the bills, a sort of pay as I earn model. Was doing really well but uncertain for the near future.

Never been in debt in my life previously. Owe about £2k now and looks unlikely in the short term that I can pay it.

Gotta laugh really or I'd go nuts

I feel for you Edbo, not nice having a mortgage and the job market about to really dive.

Having said that though mate, this is a very serious virus sweeping across the world, and really should not be taken lightly, and say it is just scaremongering, it isn't. Governments do not just shut down borders on a whim.

I think this will rival the 2008 recession. We were likely heading for a recession in the next year anyway, but this is going to crush the economy. You're going to have very little economic activity for months, that's unprecedented.

It's a really tough one. Governments can't just say well fack it, let's just let everyone get exposed and it will kill off 1% of the population. But the knock on effects of this will be austerity, people in huge financial trouble etc and that will probably kill more.

Economic depression not mental , I've suffered with depression still on meds now but I'm quite open about it , nothing to be ashamed about.

We're in Canada and it's just been announced that if we leave, we won't be able to get back in as we're not permanent residents.

Same here. Really brings it home. As I understand it you won't be able to get back in unless you're at least married to a Canadian citizen.

Wondering when the US will do something as harsh as that. As it stands permanent residents(me) can come back in. Queues are horrendous though.

Yeah the world's fecked financially. America alone is in trillions of debt and it looks like the bubble will burst again, only bigger. If anyone has shares then I'd swap them for precious metals straight away. Huge amounts of wealth will be lost due to this I reckon.
