And surely you wouldn’t want to be handed a sympathy title would you - that surely isn’t the Liverpool way is it

Sympathy title? If that's how you choose to see it.

Your opinion won't stop us from taking it.

And deep down, if you do get given it, you’ll know along with every other football supporter that you never really my won it properly - it’ll always be tainted

But you won’t get given it anyway, a null and voided season will mean you’ll just have to try and do better next season

Good luck, cos I’m sure you’ll be in with a chance, and I feel positive the 3/4 of the season you played so far wasn’t just a total fluke 👍🏼

Think they'd win it next season if it kicked off on time. Unless their recent run of form was a sign of things to come and they turn all Spursy.

Again its a matter of opinion.

Personally I'd take it with gladness and over the years its significance would be powerful and pleasing. Perhaps I'd have doubts if it was close but arguments that we never won it when we have actually smashed the league to smithereens and are 25 points clear.

Keep telling yourself its tainted. Personally I'll take it and say thank you very much.

IMO, we won't do it twice in a row, just like in the CL. That's still beyond us as we can't do it with the same front three every game for three seasons in a row. It would need significant investment in the team IMO.

That’s the whole point though, you haven’t won’t it - you’ve only played 3/4 of your games trust the clears up the technical side of things 👍🏼

Just write off the season, apologise to Liverpool and wait for this to be fixed which is gonna take months if not years.

I know this is funny for non Liverpool fans but containing C19 and making sure the world is safe is infinitely more important than football. It really does suck for Liverpool and I’m sure you can tell them they’ve won this season but the truth is no one will really truly accept it even though Liverpool deserve it. It’s just terrible bad luck for them but with far more important issues to deal with.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s going to have to be this, unfortunately. If liverpool are that good the. They’ll win it next season anyway. A double season? Come on. So Liverpool can say they won the league with the best part of 200 points?

I’d be surprised if lockdown is finished before September anyway and there’s no way I’d be happy to watch a bunch of millionaire football players all prancing about in empty stadium while we’re all locked up in our houses like prisoners, paying to watch it all on Sky Sports.

No way.

We’ve destroyed the global economy. We’ve ruined our children’s education and given the message that working hard in school is a total joke because it can all be thrown away if a few old people catch a cold. But football comes above all else?

Hell, no!

If the season is eventually voided, then I still think Liverpool's efforts should be recognised somehow.

Perhaps award them a miniature replica of the PL trophy, about the size of the Ashes.

Give them something to show for their achievements when they go on their parade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naah, just give them the title.

Which is probably what will happen anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

doubt it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't see it either. If you are going to make them champions you have to decide the rest of the league. Which won't happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly.

Which is why I suggest they be recognised in some way.

Perhaps give their manager the manager of the year award and name all their players in the PL team of the year could be another fitting reward?

But you are right. They cannot just be awarded the PL trophy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The suggestion to give Liverpool the title and expand the league to 23 teams has been floated and is out there saan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And then who qualifies for the CL etc?

There’s literally 19 teams that can mathematically make the playoffs. Allegedly the most profitable game of football in the world. How would they sort that out

posted on 30/3/20

Whereas you make good points, we also cannot scarp the season and revert to last seasons results. That would be utterly unjust in the same way as the points you made. Teams that made the CL last season and now flailing in 13th place have absolutely no right to appear in the CL next season ahead of teams currently occupying the top spots.

That's a joke. Qualification for Europe and the prem will have to be sorted somehow or there will be legal battles.

You say its the most profitable game in football? Well then why would clubs that have a chance to appear in it allow the season to be scrapped after all that work and lose the chance to make all those millions? Instead these millions will be taken by clubs that are now flailing and a club like Leeds will remain in the Championship. The Mancs will be in Ropey league whereas they are currently headed for CL football. How do you justify this?

Best to just find a way to complete the season when possible. No one will have any complaints after that. Anything else costs and arm and two legs.

That is the ideal. To complete the season. But I don't think it is feasibly possible. And what about the CL and ropey? What if they want to start the next season before the pl has finished and qualification has been sorted?

If the season in any way can be completed that of course would be the best way forward, I just don’t see how that can be done this year, we could be in a situation where no football is played until 2021

You can only complete a season if the authorities give the green light. And that in itself would open up huge potential legal issues. What if one of the players or team staff members get the virus and dies? Just think how many members of staff need to be at work to support a PL team. If one of those dies, then what? Who is to blame? There would be huge implications with potential lawsuits against the club, league, FA, government, broadcasters etc. I hope I am wrong, as we could all do with the entertainment right now, but I don't see it happening.

That's what I've been saying. There is a possibility the season might have to be scrapped but we just cant do that this minute in the name of preparing for next season. We need more info.

I think the games will be played. It can be done relatively safely behind closed doors because the repercussions are really serious.

If that payment isn't made then clubs can't pay wages FFS.

All that tells us is that they want the season finished by 31st July under the current tv deals. It doesn’t go into the complications of a league being unable to be completed by that date and how it will impact on the tv deal for the following season.
