'Jeez, so many people who think they could manage a disaster that is as bad as anyone has seen since the war, better than the appointed people.'

Yet you yourself are often so critical about Daniel Levy, someone who has been appointed to run Tottenham Hotspur - which some might liken to another kind of disaster (though that is a subject for another time).

And as for '..remarks about someone who could have died' coupled with '..there are many out their who are too thick or too selfish to even understand social distancing and the need for sensible lockdown behavior' you really are ramping up the irony levels.

Steve public indeed making a serious ar*e of it...

I could have done a better job than Boris in controlling g lockdown.

Many countries in Africa had been locked down for two weeks by the time the UK locked down. The signs were there and the medical advice was there. Now they have 200 cases and 2 deaths etc while the UK is at 10,000 deaths and counting.

Stop defending the indefensible. They've allowed the deaths of thousands to occur FFS.

I doubt he faked it but very clever if he did.

Makes him look like a strong "I stared death in the face and beat it" kind of guy.

That will resonate well with the Winston Churchill fans.

I heard he licked hospital waste to ensure he got the infection and then refused to breathe for 30 seconds at a time to ensure his symptoms got as bad as possible. Finally he inserted a ventilator tube up his arris but that was nothing to do with Covid and the nurses b0llocked him about it

Haha, well its always good to have someone ITK on the thread.

His approval rating has never been higher so it looks like Cummings has done it again, clever fella!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting.
He disappears for two weeks and does nothing in a time of great crisis.
His approval rating goes up.
Says it all.

1.8m unemployed and a 30% dip will be hailed as a great triumph for our churchilian leader.

Never quite understand how such an incompetent buffon has such high approval ratings. He was totally useless as London Mayor, pretty well everything he touched never actually saw the light of day. Just goes to show how stupid the electorate are.

No surprises Spazzle is all over this thread.

The government are doing the best they can in the circumstances, no other government would be doing any better given the complexities.

Anybody criticizing the government are just trying to use a global pandemic as a stick to beat them with, it is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to somehow score brownie points in the face of thousands of deaths.

It is all rather sad.

No BillyTheToryBootlicker

12’000 hospital deaths and 4000 care home deaths is what is “rather sad”

Their “best” has been nowhere near good enough.

No government could do better than this.

Other than us having the highest daily death toll in Europe, Germany and South Korea having much flatter curves, lack of PPE in hospitals, testing at a much lower rate than other countries etc. No one else could have done better.

There is a shocking article on the FT this morning on how the government has just wasted 3 weeks and considerable amount of money to deliver ventilators which don't have the specific requirements:

" Dr Pittard, who was among a group of medical expert who advised on minimum specifications for ventilators in early March said that the professionals had asked for devices that would work for the whole duration of a covid patient staying in intensive care.
If we had been told the government were planning on deliver ventilators which stabilise the patient only for few hours, we would have say don't bother, you are wasting our time" Ouch!

Thanks god they are doing their best

It doesn't matter. They can do whatever they want and people will still defend them, such is the polarised nature of politics at the moment.

According to research by Deep Knowledge Group (DKG), a Hong Kong venture capital group specialising in medicines, Germany is the second safest country in the world during Covid-19 pandemic, with Israel in the top spot. Britain is not in the Top 40 safest.

WHO official report lol.

Is it true that China stopped WHO using the very word Taiwan, even though Taiwan handled covid well?

I think we can learn a lot from China.

Lie about what actually happens in your country, control media, abuse people, buy up Africa while being racist...make stuff the world needs through cheap labour, so that the West has to buy PPE from the nation that gave us and lied about having covid-19.

It's the way forward.

China back at work again too, as the world goes into recession??

If I was into conspiracy theories.

You can't use death per percentage of population as measurable factor on an airborne infectious disease. It is a bit more complex than that. The way it gets transmitted depend on density and so many factors which are taken into account if only base on percentage per population

Mexico has 200 plus deaths, while across the border it is 20k, so you are correct.

POC are getting hit hardest in UK and America...as are places such as NY, London, New Orleans, with massive population and bame communities.

Sweden has not locked down hard, and is not suffering like Italy or UK?

Nobody knows exactly what this virus is, and where it will go.
