No,lockdown is what is keeping the infection and death rates down.
Take any crowd of people who should be "social distancing" and count the percentage that are not doing so.
It will be about 50% minimum.
And 2 meters is not enough if you're breathing hard, as in running.
Otherwise you list is passable, except "anti bac" wont do anything ...its a VIRUS. Use stuff that kills viruses.
Our lockdown is due for review next Tuesday but the current likelihood is there will be no easing of restrictions.
This is going to lead to more and more folk breaking the rules. The amount of charges administered for breaking covid 19 regulations has doubled in the last week with numerous incidents of morons spitting at police.
Its a bank holiday weekend this weekend and that is only going to lead to more people breaking the rules.
Do I think our lockdown should be lifted? In all honesty no, as there are still a high number of cases and many people dying but I reckon measures will be continued for 2 weeks more and then there will be a phased lifting of restrictions as joe public is really starting to grumble over here now. Also our economy is going to be devastated anyway with the social welfare bill for this and we are going to be repaying it for years.
I said it on the politics thread yesterday that all the media questions now at the daily briefing are basically coded versions of when are the pubs opening?
That is coupled with the restaurant sector claiming 120000 jobs may be lost in the next 2 months.
Also the situation in care homes here has been appalling as 50% of our deaths have occurred in the care home setting.
I think the government will sooner rather than later feel pressured into an easing of restrictions even if it is not a viable option.
Another problem we have is there is still ongoing government formation talks continuing.

On the positive side - the nhs capacity hasn’t been breached, infected people weren’t lying on hospital floors waiting for treatment as they were in Italy while in Spain elderly people in care homes were abandoned and literally left to die. In New York they dug mass graves to deal with the rapid death rate
We sometimes take things for granted in this country. Not saying this pandemic has been handled well, but it absolutely could have been far worse
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've set a pretty low bar there.
Nobody lying on hospital floors dying. That's good.
We've stick a few thousands beds in some conference centres so that we can say capacity isnt breached .
People were dying and suffering in this country for lack of resources, care and attention long before COVID. Let's not pretend that it isn't massively worse now.
I'm hearing first hand every day about the situation in one hospital and it's a mess. We got very close to breaking point here.
And we're still being told that PPE is a logistics issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s a low bar that wasn’t achieved by two of the largest countries in Europe - that could easily have been us. The new makeshift hospitals have barely been used - the one in Birmingham hadn’t taken a single patient last time I checked. That’s because we have kept the capacity in check
Meanwhile the government has rolled out a £330bn initial programme to cover 80% of people’s wages who have been furloughed in a move never before seen in this country. Some countries won’t be able to do that
Not saying they haven’t got plenty wrong, but sometimes people can take being British and living in a relatively wealthy country for granted
One thing that so many people like to forget when moaning & complaining about the government and the mistakes that they may or may not have made is London.
There are so few cities globally as densely populated as London and proximity to others is the biggest cause of any virus spreading.
What I would like to look at is our stats without London included or perhaps in fairer comparative cities such as Manchester or Birmingham.

This track and trace stuff particularly in the case of UK is just going to be a complete shambles. When the virus was still early stage. Our PM was literally in a meeting room with someone who tested positive, and he didn't isolate or get a test. Rhetoric and implementation/reality are typically disconnected in UK. This app stuff is probably not much more than a psychological comfort to nudge folk into going back to work.

What I would like to look at is our stats without London included or perhaps in fairer comparative cities such as Manchester or Birmingham.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
London is part of the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom has the 4th highest death toll in the world. 10% of global deaths.
Those are the facts no matter how you try and spin them.

Good lord, this one is special
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not wrong though am I?
Believe me, most of us Londoners would love dearly to be separate from the rest of this country, but we are where we are

I think even years after all this is over, people will live their lives differently.
Hygiene will be practised more thoroughly. Face masks will be a more common sight. Hand sanitizers will still becone like your keys, phone and wallet.
People who are saying a second wave will be worse aren't taking this into effect tive. As dim aas some people are, we are much more educated now thsn ever

Although an expert here has said a partial easing of restrictions could be a good thing:

This track and trace stuff particularly in the case of UK is just going to be a complete shambles. When the virus was still early stage. Our PM was literally in a meeting room with someone who tested positive, and he didn't isolate or get a test. Rhetoric and implementation/reality are typically disconnected in UK. This app stuff is probably not much more than a psychological comfort to nudge folk into going back to work.
