the reality is that many businesses will quickly reach the point that the back rent etc make it not worth their while reopening.
the levels.of lockdown exist in New Zealand too. the issue for me is the uk government is too busy setting up schemes to profit personally from to plan anything.
I would open most businesses bar pubs and clubs and enforce face masks in public.
that would go a long way to keeping this in check but you.must have instant testing to control things and we dont.
germany has and they are going to go back and live fairly.normally.

Astonishing how we had nearly a decade of Austerity, because we were continually brainwashed into being told the country did not have any money, and the finances had to be looked after.
In the space of two months the Government are now throwing money around like confetti, just so they look good in the electorate`s eyes.
Austerity should never have happened, and the Government have now been found out. The money was there all the time.

Your grasp of government finances is completely non existent.
As is you understanding about managing a financial situation as opposed to having to react to try and decrease the affects of an unknown virus that kills in the thousands and for which there is as of yet no cure.
Just where do you think all this money has been kept? Under the mattress?

Such a sensational headline. They are missing a key word, which is "yet".
regardless of when and how the lockdown is lifted we need a cultural change in sick days, hygiene and consideration of others. In Asia the reason why masks are prominent is not to stop themselves getting sick but to stop them from spreading colds and flus. companies need to begin making it policy that if you are even the slightest bit symptomatic of an illness you work from home, not a sick day a work from home day. The population as a whole need to be considerate and wear masks if they're are ill and need to go outside.

Agreed but people need to take on responsibility for themselves too.
I can't even begin to imagine the times I've said to an employee to go home because of one reason or another just to receive "I'm fine, stop worrying" and even after that having to essentially instruct them to get "ok then but I'll need to finish this off first and I'll be back tomorrow; it's just a sniffle"

That's why there needs to be a change in work culture. For those jobs where remote work is possible they should allow it. It wont be a "sick day" it will be a "remote work day", so the employee still gets paid. They only take a sick day if they are not able to work remotely. Coronovirus has forced a lot of organisations to implement remote work capabilities so it should be easier to implement.

Also this testing thing that is being plugged all around the world is flawed to say the least. Nothing stops somebody being tested and picking up the virus an hour later but people seem to think testing means you are safe.

Pure guess based on it being three weeks later.

Drives me nuts

That's why there needs to be a change in work culture. For those jobs where remote work is possible they should allow it. It wont be a "sick day" it will be a "remote work day", so the employee still gets paid. They only take a sick day if they are not able to work remotely. Coronovirus has forced a lot of organisations to implement remote work capabilities so it should be easier to implement.

People don't come in three categories they come in two.
Those that actually care about others and those that don't give a feck about others. It's about a 50/50 split.

Also this testing thing that is being plugged all around the world is flawed to say the least. Nothing stops somebody being tested and picking up the virus an hour later but people seem to think testing means you are safe.
