Voiding the season is actually the worst decision possible if real facts are considered. It would lead to the most trouble of all the options. The rhetoric on sites like this one isn't always taking facts into consideration.
And focussing on next season at this time makes no sense if critically examined, and is only in the interest of 4 English clubs.

Wouldn’t be keen on any restart if games had to be played behind closed doors.

I also believe that the attempt is to play these games on selected neutral grounds and there is strong opposition to that as well.

So you're suggesting a scenario where the season isn't finished because of time constraints, not covid 19.

There is talk of schools opening in June too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Schools are already open.
They never shut. They just decreased the amount of kids attending is all.
Players will have to get fit again and that means at least 3-4 weeks of training which they can only do once there has been a fully approved plan of how they will protect the hundreds of people required at an EPL game when resources are at their thinnest.
Just not going to happen.

When I said schools opening I meant kids going back. You can't have society going back to some sort of normality and players sit at home getting paid for nothing for 3 months and counting.

And therein lies another problem.
Hundreds of players will be out of contract at the end of June. Clubs will be glad to let many go as it will ease their cost base

Explain how they will be able to move if we’re still in lockdown to the extent games can’t be played?
Where did I say I think football can be played in June?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They might not be able to move or they might sign contracts on far lower wages etc. They don't have to physically move.
And clubs will certainly look to reduce outgoings in the face of loss of tv revenues and match day income. They'd be idiots not to. Why do you think many are asking payers to take salary cuts and/or deferrals?
And you are arguing against my point that I don't think football will be played in June so it's reasonable to think that you obviously do. Otherwise why argue with it?

It's a mix of both.
The time constraints render a June start as unlikely as could be imagined
Covid 19 is still there, still killing people and making many more ill. But there is sense in planning something for say 4 months away and assume that we will be in a far better place to cope. Those plans are then refined as we progress and changed where necessary. It's contingency planning.
The alternative is not to plan at all.

No need to start preaching as I haven't disagreed with this.
I'm just laying out the facts as they are and I was responding to a point made that they're insisting on finishing the season just to give Liverpool and Leeds the titles etc. There real reasons are clear.
The problem now on these sites is you can't even discuss stuff without 3-4 preachers crawling out from under their rock, putting their hands on your head and speaking in tongues.
What the fack are you doing on a football forum when people are dying? Going on a football forum to tell them how football isn't important at this time? Well get to fack then
I'm here to discuss football and I'm aware of what's going on. If you want to preach perhaps find the Jehovah witness site

If they are good enough; and as EPL players you'd suggest they were, then they will receive a salary from somewhere although it's not unreasonable to suggest it will be at a far lower cost to whoever takes them.
Some clubs may choose to speculate further but the longer this situation goes on the less likely that will be as clubs will lose fortunes and some will inevitably go out of business after a long enough time.
That about answers the points.
But there is sense in planning something for say 4 months away and assume that we will be in a far better place to cope. Those plans are then refined as we progress and changed where necessary. It's contingency planning.
------
I might disagree. Its best to get some practice first. Just like goingbti the moon, you have to trial it. You can't put in astronauts on the first attempt.
So the new season would be in dangers we don't know. We would be going blind into a new season and if someone gets the virus the new season is done within a week. Imagine that, canckeing a season to prepare for another one which is also canceled within a week. No one will invest in that again. You have to consider all the future risks too.
Behind closed doors will be the norm now, better to get going and iron out the teething problems.
Best to get the system working. This will build confidence that next season will go ahead and finish as well. If you've read my links you'll understand why this is vital.

Whenever it starts it will be behind closed doors. Football like many other businesses and industries cannot survive if they have to wait for a vaccine that may never come.

And players lower down the leagues not on £100,000pw?
You honestly think clubs are going to but a player and pat a fortune in wages when there’s no indication when they’ll be earning revenue next?
I’d say the transfer market will be dependant on football starting again and clubs seeing money come through the doors first. Not the other way round. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Then there’s, as I said earlier, the complications of players moving around the country, or to other countries. Not to mention the PR of club x signing player A for a certain amount of millions whilst the rest of the country is either a keyworker, stuck at home on 80% or unemployed. Again it makes no sense.

On your last point if this season can't be finished due to time constraints which have now been set by UEFA why wouldn't you plan for next season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you're suggesting a scenario where the season isn't finished because of time constraints, not covid 19.
In that case then you would be right. If Covid miraculously clears up in the very bear future and there's no time to finish this season and start and finish next season, then I would prioritise the full season. But that's if guaranteed that the season will go ahead without further stoppages, which won't happen, which is fantasy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a mix of both.

It's almost like football thinks it is above science and government strategies
Not a fwcking chance will there be football in 6 weeks or so time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
There is talk of schools opening in June too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Schools are already open.
They never shut. They just decreased the amount of kids attending is all.
Players will have to get fit again and that means at least 3-4 weeks of training which they can only do once there has been a fully approved plan of how they will protect the hundreds of people required at an EPL game when resources are at their thinnest.
Just not going to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When I said schools opening I meant kids going back. You can't have society going back to some sort of normality and players sit at home getting paid for nothing for 3 months and counting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite
And therein lies another problem.
Hundreds of players will be out of contract at the end of June. Clubs will be glad to let many go as it will ease their cost base
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So football won’t be able to be played in June but players will be able to move clubs, houses, towns/cities and even countries.
Ok then
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Take your time and tell me where I typed that.
And while you're at it, explain to anyone how you think football can be played in June and overcome all the obstacles, red tape etc in its way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You said you don’t think football will be played in 6 weeks (June is less than 6 weeks away). You then go on to say that players will be out of contract in June with clubs looking to offload players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who’s going to be paying the wages of these players that move in June, their new clubs whilst they sit there in limbo?
Yes moving players offloads costs from one club, but then adds them to another. Don’t see your point about reducing outgoings. Will clubs be keen to sign players given their economic uncertainty?
Where did I argue against your point re starting in June? All I’m arguing is how players will move if clubs have no revenue coming in and are supposedly looking
to reduce outgoings?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they are good enough; and as EPL players you'd suggest they were, then they will receive a salary from somewhere although it's not unreasonable to suggest it will be at a far lower cost to whoever takes them.
Some clubs may choose to speculate further but the longer this situation goes on the less likely that will be as clubs will lose fortunes and some will inevitably go out of business after a long enough time.
That about answers the points.

Agreed totally

I would for certain.
My club owes me a fortune for games I've paid for but haven't and won't be able to see and they're now out asking for me to renew for next season.

Mad they're asking you to renew for next season when you still have games for this season you've paid for!
