Was in sixth form at school, just finished the day and loads of us crowding round a TV in the shool library.
Had to go work in a newsagent straight after so missed unfolding footage, but was clearly a huge moment I was walking out on.

At home getting ready for work.

Remember they had it on the news after the first one hit and remember seeing the second one and thinking fack that’s going to hit it and then boom

Shocking

I had just finished a shift at work, and we always went to the pub after. One of my mates got a text to put the TV on as the news broke, so we sat and watched it in the pub.

Arsenal had an away game in Europe that night, it went ahead but games on the Wednesday were cancelled. Pretty sure we lost, but it was, of course, played in a strange atmosphere.

7/7 I was in Spain. Remember my mother texting me to tell me my brothers were safe before I even knew anything about it. Left me confused until I saw it on the news later in the day.

At work. I had to go to a friends' house after to pick up my phone I'd left in his car. We watched it unfolding there on tv while having a smoke. I remember saying at the time 'I wouldn't be surprised if they did this to themselves'.

Our generation really has been through some chit.

True, although we didn’t go through a war like other generations did we ? World war 1 and 2 was horrendous. Thank god we didn’t experience that.

I was 16, in college and was doing a shift at Mickey D's that day. I just remember seeing the scenes on the TV in staff room and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It literally was something that you see out of a movie. Completely changed society after that, it was a major event in history, as is this pandemic now. I expect huge societal changes after this as well.

It is weird how people misremember things like this as well. I had a conversation with someone a few years after it happened and they were insistant it happened at 9am UK time, despite me telling him it was 9am US time. I argued that it would make it 4am in US and not many people would have been working in the WTC buildings, but he still wouldn't have it. He was sure he watched it unfold while he was eating breakfast! The next day he admitted I was right after he googled it.

I was in Majorca, happened the day before we were supposed to leave. I only found out cos they had the radio on in a duty free shop and I heard the words 'Heathrow' and 'Gatwick' and asked what they were talking about.

To be fair I had that memory as well that it was 9 here and it couldn't have been as you say due to the time difference. It's like the Mandela effect.

Yeah of course. I can't imagine what that must've been like. My grandad was never right after the war.

I was off school sick and remember my mate on MSN telling me to turn on the news. Watched it the whole afternoon.

Was definitely the most surreal thing I’ve ever witnessed, can’t decide what was more shocking, the planes hitting the towers or the towers collapsing

posted on 4/5/20

It was the second plane that really shook me, thought I was watching a repeat of the first plane and took some time to realise that shîíte just got real.

posted on 4/5/20

At my babysitters after school, probably the earliest memory I have of anything.

posted on 4/5/20

The first plane would have hit 13.44 uk time

I was 4. I don't recall what I was doing.

A family friend was being born as it happened though.

I was off that day as at the time I was working shift
Remember watching it at home

Was pretty young at the time, mad day that. Got trapped under a canoe going down some rapids, probably the closest I’ve come to popping it. Got home and that had happened.

posted on 4/5/20

My mistake. If I really think about I I’m pretty sure they put some of it on at school and then we’d gone canoeing after and that happened.

I believe the canoes were holograms
