It’s a real hit-and-miss situation staring us in the face. I confess I’d thought along the same lines as you with one or two players dropping out, genuinely, with the virus thereby paralysing the whole show. Imagine, say, week 3, a couple of players go down, God forbid. Their whole team can’t play the next few games, but what about the two games they’ve played before and what about their past opponents? Do they all go in to lockdown too? They’d have to wouldn’t they?
For me, that is a real and very realistic proposition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They wouldn't no as they players would have been tested before the game.

I don’t see them as ‘fake’ VJ’. I’ve read that Danny Rose, now at Newcastle has come out saying there shouldn’t be any play until the whole thing is cracked, but that could take year to get there. If they’ve got a genuine concern then, fair enough, they can’t be forced to play.
Imagine, if you will, being a top drawer PL player, international, playing a blinder week in, week out, top top wages too, say in the £100K - £350K a week. The world is your oyster, nothing but nothing going south.
Then comes along a deadly disease. No evidence yet as to who why where how as to where we are headed.
It can hit anyone, young, old, fat, thin, healthy unfit tall, short, the full whack. No warning, no signal, nothing.
These players are, in the main, earning money beyond their wildest dreams x 10. And the great unknown, hanging above their heads is waiting, and could well strike, with devastating results.
At the end of they day, they are only human, just like the rest of us, but with an incredible amount to lose, to come crashing down upon their heads, their own paradise blown to shreds.
If they don’t want to play, or engage even, their choice. Financial ramifications? Depends on the terms of their contracts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boohoo, poor spoiled players.

Danny Rose is one of those players where football is just a job, if he can get paid without working he's all for it.
I called up a guy earlier today and told him it looks like we will be bringing him back on the 1st of June. His reply was, "why would I come back for 20%?". Err you're not coming back for 20%, as you won't be getting anything if you don't. Honestly some people.

How entitled is that response?
As if football is in any way essential. The're only being coerced to play because billionaires and organisations worth billions want to keep the money flowing.
The players should cough up and cover all of the non-playing staff's wages for a year. Say 5 million split over 25 players - 200k each for an entire year of staff salaries. Most of them earn more than that in a month. I think if they did that the clubs would have very little leverage to force them on the pitch.
Quite right bales. Fack the pl, fack the players and rich backers. The only people I have any sympathy for is the staff. Football isn’t important and should be cancelled til september.

Ladies and gents there we have it
See Ole’ comment above - cancel it till September π§ππ§π§π§
Translation = don’t allow Liverpool to be crowned champions and if they are try and disrupt it as much as possible
You can guarantee they’ll be cases / deaths in September but Ole as states above and as I’ve stated the players in general just want to fck off on holiday on full pay whilst saying “we’re scared” which really means we can’t be @rsed playing

It should be cancelled on grounds of safety, and that football just isn’t important enough to risk a restart.

Is McDonald's important enough? Starbucks? The fact of the matter is people are thinking of football in an entertainment sense and not a business sense. The rich clubs would be fine, the not so rich need the money. If people can go to work, then footballers can with much more protection, testing etc. It's not like they're packed into trains and buses twice a day like the photos we've seen over the past few days and will be massively increased by the time PL football kicks off.

I'm sorry you have to go to work for a non-essential job during a pandemic. That's really sh!t, I would not be happy with that at all.
That doesn't change the fact that playing a contact sport which requires you to be in close proximity to a large group of people is a bad idea, though. And it's quite clearly a bad idea right now.
The virus doesn't care if they're millionaires - the money won't stop them or their relatives getting sick. As I mentioned, though, they could pay their way out of this if they wanted to by covering the club's outgoings for the time being. Most people can't do that for their employers and colleagues. If they're not willing to do that they should expect this pressure to get back to work. That much is fair.
What's entitled about it is the attitude that 'they're millionaires, boohoo' as if 1. that money makes them somehow safer from dying. 2. they somehow owe it to the public to play football. I would think there's a good chunk of the public that would not be happy if they're doing thousands of tests while the government repeatedly misses their targets for testing front-line workers and the vulnerable.

Why don't I have this privilege where I can demand not to leave my family because I am afraid of covid, and still get my wages?

These players are, in the main, earning money beyond their wildest dreams x 10. And the great unknown, hanging above their heads is waiting, and could well strike, with devastating results.
At the end of they day, they are only human, just like the rest of us, but with an incredible amount to lose, to come crashing down upon their heads, their own paradise blown to shreds.
If they don’t want to play, or engage even, their choice. Financial ramifications? Depends on the terms of their contracts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boohoo, poor spoiled players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How entitled is that response?

What a mess of an article, generalising all players as the same.
Some will be idiots who don't believe, others will be selfish and won't care, but there'll be plenty who don't want put their family at risk or spend a few months away from them if that's whats proposed to finish the season.

Actually I’d also state cancel the league and Liverpool should be awarded the title, which is what I’ve always stated.
It should be cancelled on grounds of safety, and that football just isn’t important enough to risk a restart.
Certainly not to please the greedy baaaastards pushing for it behind the scenes, like the pl themselves, or sponsors.

Why is it a bad idea? You can't pass on a virus if you don't have it, which the players making contact with each other obviously won't have.

I have to work away from my family all the time. On the day I decide I want to always be close to my family, my employer would be happy to let me go. I am currently working away from my family, as are millions of others who will go home in the evening having spent the whole day with untested people and unsanitized surfaces, as opposed to footballers who will live and play in far safer places.
Why don't I have this privilege where I can demand not to leave my family because I am afraid of covid, and still get my wages?

I think the answer is because your team isn't doing crap in the league, or something.
