Look at the difference in qualty between these two teams. And yet team A wins 4-0 and its not a freak result?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, we were without Salah and Firmino, as well as Robertson going off early on and still thrashed them. By far the better team. Should have beat them in the first leg also, as we were all over them but suffered a freak result.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK so when the better team wins 3-0 its a freak result, but when the worse teams wins 4-0 that's totally cool. OK then
Delusion, pure furrrking delusion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool were the better team. Why are you saying Barca were the better team you melt?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The better team on the night lost 3-0. I know, it sounds absolutely crazy, it did then and it still does now. We controlled the game, had the most possession, the most shots, the most corners, their keepers made some fantastic saves but on the night, we missed our chances and were sucker punched.
We played the same game in the second leg but took our chances. Barca struggled in the first leg to control the game but struggled even more in the second leg. We were the better team and it showed.

A world class player is anyone good enough to attract the interest of Real or Barca. For me, that narrows the list down nicely:
Nobody in the PL since Hazard left.

I'm not talking about distant history, I'm talking modern day.
Hazard was the standout world class player in the PL.
Behind him, but in with a say, are arguably Aguero, Salah and De Bruyne. However, I think Salah flatters to deceive, and De Bruyne's too injury prone to be a reliable (and thus world class) player.
Let's face it, the PL gets the scraps of Europe. Whoever the big two in Spain allow to come to England.
We have some players who have world class aspects to their game, but equally have obvious weaknesses that prevent them being deemed a complete player for their position (I'm thinking of Trent, Pogba, Kane etc..)

Unquestionably world class talent, but far more injury prone that a world class player is.

There's not really a player in the PL right now that I look at and think "there's a guy who could play for any top side of any era and not look out of place."
There are a few guys who on their day could fit that description, but for once reason or another come up short in certain aspects.

I dunno. I think Ronaldo and Messi have been a very useful barometer for demonstrating what's world class, versus what's very good. Without those two, the list of world class forwards would probably be 50 players long over the last decade.
Without Ashley Cole fresh in our minds we'd probably think Robertson was world class.
