If only we could.
Maybe all accounts could be banned and everyone has to resign up with new identities. A witness protection forum...
Is it nice in your snowstorm, freezing your brain, do you think that your face, looks the same?
Are admins too hands off? Probably a little, I don't envy them their job, but some of what goes on on here is tantamount to bullying, and is deeply unsavoury.
Is the filter button overused? Underused I'd say, if someone just posted "make $100 an hour working from home" every comment, it would be logical to filter that user, and much of what is posted on here is of no more value. No idea why filtering a be!!end would be a sign of weakness.
Is it Liverpool fans enjoy their place in the sun too much? I'd love to see the evolution of active users on here, but my guess is a lot of people have decided that having half the articles on here ruined (or created by) Scousers gloating and sneering isn't quite what they signed up to. Never seen a board have such a meltdown when their team became good.
Short answer: yes.
Is the filter button overused? Underused I'd say
---------
Filter replaced board bans, which in many ways was better imo.
Not having a go at Admins, really, as it is an impossible job. Unless they BBC it and close at 11, or Not606 it and get board moderators, they cannot really control every minor disagreement that turns into multi-article fights.
And just wait until I’m in Australia and I open the night shift on this board.

Lack of football obviously hasn’t helped, but I think it’s more to do with the utter morons giving us their worldy views that post on here.
I think this site is great. Perfect distraction and good source of info.
It has become a little too “political” for my liking, but in that sense it just mirrors what society has become and frankly nobody is forced to read/contribute to an article on here.

There is no football to bicker about, gotta argue about something.
Very rarely do debates end well as most of the time nobody admits to being wrong about something
Even in the face of a tidal wave of irrefutable evidence people will stick to their guns and argue till the cows come home

Yup, this too. People seem to have gone to a very odd debating school, where instead of using the usual methods to win a debate - state your case clearly, present evidence, respond to counter-evidence etc - they just refuse to admit anything at all.
Then just double down on the insults/emojis, and hey, I won!

I agree with both posters
it is all fun and games when it is football arguements and I personally find it easy to ignore (not bite).
But when it comes to sensitive topics that changes. I have now personally decide JA606 is not a place for intellectual debates. I will stick to football.

So it’s the cows’ fault? Fckin knew it!
D’J you missed one key bullet-point from your article đ
I really appreciate the work Admins have done with his site, but I also think it has potential to be better, and carry on attracting new users. I like it as is still a simple, easy to use forum where you can actually chat and debate with people who know football.
In real life and even on social media, it’s hard to otherwise have an actual ‘grown up’ discussion and debate about football in depth. A lot of my football mates in real life aren’t quite as into it as me so the sports conversations are really superficial compared to what I can discuss on here.
But I undortinately think over the years admins have become ‘set in their ways’ and perhaps stagnated the potential of this site..
- There’s still a bit of a disconnect between admin and the users. There feedback thread has gone, if we want Admins attention we have to complain about our own comment and hope he sees it somehow.
- I find it odd that ja606 hasn’t at all embraced social media. It’s 2020 now, like social media is not literally any sort of platform or initiative can benefit from its use
- There has long been inconsistency with some of the board band or site bans admin hands out. I personally think users like Ace and Wahl bring much needed discussion to the site and don’t have to be banned (especially Wahl) just because Admin doesn’t like him or finds him annoying
" I have now personally decide JA606 is not a place for intellectual debates. I will stick to football."
It never was really though...was it, I mean there are a few on here who are obviously well educated, but act like kids who just had their sweets taken off them if anyone of percieved less intellect dares to question them....& will argue the toss about anything for days just to get a point over, despite saying they aren't bothered
Look at messes like the politics thread...it's the usual suspects
It starts with you and me.
We can't complain about the forum losing its focus, while still actively adding fuel to the fire.
I'll probably try steering well clear of the political threads, myself. There's every possibility of JA606 heading down the way of those facking *Chan sites.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do agree with this, I read very little stuff that I consider to be genuinely disgusting on here, and even then I'm not sure that is worthy of a ban in most cases - if someone's racist, fine, they've outed themselves as a racist, so much the better. If you're spamming, or revealing other users' personal details, ok, but (relatively) harmless jokes such as Ace's were never a problem to me. And I honestly don't really get the contempt some people have for Wahl, when he's behaving he's a perfectly decent poster.
I certainly have much more of an issue with posters who seem to exist just to ruin articles, or belittle/taunt/abuse other posters. The "hey look winston's on an article, let's gang up and head on over to give him some grief" brigade.
But hey, who'd want to be ad admin on here, stuck in the middle of an eternal sh!tfight to rustle up £20k a year in advertising revenue?
It has got alot worse than the beginning but I still prefer it over any similar forums.
I think any non sports discussion needs to be removed from the sports board and either completely banned or moved to their own board ( maybe a off topic board ).
My biggest gripe is multiple articles all going up in the same topic at the same time.
Maybe a delete your article could be added for the op to use.
Also would like embedding enable for twitter like we have for YouTube. Would make things so much easier than trying to copy and pasting the text.
It’s a strange site where there isn’t many new people joining but an existing ‘community’ who know a lot about each other’s lives and log on every day without fail. Almost like a regular pub we’ve all been going to for years and I’m sure unless 2020 has more surprises in store like a meteor strike or Godzilla surfacing from the ocean we’ll be around for another 10 years. Probably until Admin pulls the plug,
