The traffic has definitely dropped from when JA first started, I'm pretty sure about that, and that doesn't help.

I think generally everything has a use by date though, doesn't it? People get bored of the same thing after a while, and want to go off and do other things, hence numbers dropping in the first place.

I like the site and use it for a bit of a laugh

I will agree though that some users are allowed get away with far more than others

I like the site. It's a good social place to come to now and again. I don't mind what topic is discussed either. If it's not for me I go past.

I've said it many times on here...filtering is pathetic, and you've basically let those posters win, so much better to put them in their place so that everyone else can see it.

So if you see the need to filter people you probably shouldn't be on here...maybe Twitter is more suitable

I think with even a minimal amount of social media promotion (as simple as retweeting sports news with a few hashtags and a “join the discussion” link) the site could attract a wave of new users.

I think it really depends what you want from the site. There are a lot of posters who genuinely get a kick out of trying to wind people up and if that’s your thing then there are plenty that’ll engage with you.

Others really seem to enjoy the tribal nature of football, us against them and defend their club irrespective of the discussion or topic. Again, it’d that’s your thing then I suspect there are good arguments to be had.

If you want discussion and debate without the first two elements then it can be difficult to find. Not impossible but even good discussion gets easily derailed.

But I think whatever you’re here for (and we all continue to log in) then you get to know the posters you want to talk to. I have zero interest in trying to wind people up (certainly never done it intentionally) and little time for the tribal rubbish so there are some posters I just wouldn’t engage with. There are some really good and intelligent contributors here but it’s a bit like TKMaxx - you’ve got to wade through a lot of craap to find what you want.

Definitely. Doesn’t have to be seen as taking ha606 discussion to twitter. But this site technically provides a discussion platform for literally all sports. Any trending sports news out there has potential for ja606 to get involved.

I’ve filtered a couple of people just because I got tired of reading their hateful and bile ridden comments. I know filtering isn’t for everyone but personally I think the site is more pleasant for me without their contributions.

Lack of football obviously hasn’t helped, but I think it’s more to do with the utter morons giving us their worldy views that post on here.

This.

For example there is just one poster from the Liverpool board that is fair and decent. Irishred.

The rest are utter w@nk stains on the face of humanity.

ha ha, they are a truly dreadful board, and have done more than anyone to bring this site to its knees, but even i find that a bit harsh.

for instance look at naby 8's contributions here, thoughtful, sincere, and highly pertinent. he's a very good poster, as is tiddles, kaiser's trainers used to be, i like kneerash too (though he can get a bit, erm, merry at times). and yes, i do like irish.

the rest only differ in just how much of their time they devote to baiting/antagonising/bullying other posters, or sneering/gloating at other teams, but they're all guilty of it on a fairly regular basis.

Let’s be honest a lot of good posters left because they found the bad posters exhausting and there are a lot of bad posters dedicated to annoying people.

Admins gave up like 4/5 years ago around the live commentary time and have been barely moderating it since. They both suck.

I think the big threads, such as Good News, the Arsenal Thread, The Liverpool Tranny Thread etc don't help either. Means posters isolate themselves from the rest of the site, plus it also seems to be where WUMs are conceived and celebrated.

On the flipside, they keep Pete from conversing with the wider population a lot of the time.

Find VC moaning about the quality of poster on this site hilarious. His sole contribution is to call people names and antagonise. He’s one of the elder members of the site as well.

I think some could do with practicing what they preach.

Don

Fair on Tiddles. He is decent. I don’t know the other two. Maybe they are not on our board often.
