That game is the one and only time I ever felt bad for him to be fair
How long have you been following this beautiful game for? Gerrard was top 3, if not the best central midfielder in the world at one point. his ability to get liverpool out from the clutches of death was second to none.
Their was one player that would always make me be on the edge of my seat when he had the ball at least 30 yards from goal, and that was Gerrard.
Does anyone else think when Stevie G talks, he sounds like he's about to cry?

Didn't he also place a transfer request at one point, only to bottle that too within 24 hours?
Stevie is definitely up there. The Slip was just gold - you couldn’t write that any better.
So many gaffes and failures throughout his career.
Losing 6-1 at Stoke was the perfect send off really.
Ballack is up there also. Lost a WC Final, 2 WC SFs, Euro Final, 2 UCL Finals.
Wenger & Klopp would be up there as well. Klopp for his record in Finals and Wenger for several reasons.
Ha ha, wahl gently stirring the pot i see.
Though i have always thought with gerrard that it was interesting how many - to borrow from chess - blunders he committed. Critical errors, in high-profile games, that directly led to the opposition scoring. Just off the top of my head I can think of dodgy backpass vs chelsea, dodgy backpass in the euros (vs france i think), dodgy backheader vs uruguay in the world cup, own goal in fa cup final, the sub 2 minute sending off vs united, the slip, and the wild swing at the phil collins hating dj.
and he is arguably best remembered for a blunder, which doesn't happen very often (zidane's headbutt was similarly meme-worthy, cantona's kick, beckham's sending off?). albeit the most unfortunate is R9, one of the greatest strikers in the history of the game, now often known as "fat ronaldo".
but it is a lengthy list, and it's tough to think of too many top players with the same issue - anyone off the top of their head think of lampard's biggest f@ck ups? scholes? lineker sh@t his pants on the field, but even that was a secret for years.
good stuff wahl.

I cant help but feel gerrard is the more hated by opposition fans, people can be petty like that and most of the times it clouds their judgement.
Gerrard could win you trophies on his own, and at his peak there wasn't a better midfielder in the world.

He goes to a country where the team with 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as their anthem beats them to the title. They just keep on coming...
All jokes aside most non-Liverpool fans think of the slip when asked to name one Gerrard moment.
