Agree LIW... I guess everybody would want to show unity... I applaud that !!
but somebodys reason for not taking the knee, would be thrown out and be accused of racism... I'm struggling to find a reason somebody wouldn't take the knee to be honest, but I get your point
What reasons are there really to not do it? James McClean gets a lot of abuse for not wearing a poppy for very valid reasons, so I would imagine anyone not taking the knee would be getting the same.
In it's original context, I agree.
Not now it has become a symbol of black lives matter overall though.
Is this any different to none British players not wanting to wear the Poppy?..
As for kneeling, its supposed to be a free World, so, if people choose to do it than good, but people shouldn't be Judged for not doing it!..

The people who abuse James would be the same people not wanting players to take a knee.
D', you got the Poppy before me!.
Dominic Rabb seems to think it comes from Game of Thrones
There’s no reason to not take the knee. You either want to show support to black people or you don’t.
It’s different to the McClean thing as he has a legit beef with the concept of honouring the UK military. Who could have a beef with black people other than actual racists?

Can't see any reason for not doing it and it's all very nice & pleasant.
Think it's fairly meaningless as a gesture and would like to see more efforts to communicate things that people can actually do to make a difference, but ultimately there's nothing negative about this gesture.

Some people might not like the idea of taking a knee for anyone or anything ???
Some people just want to live there lives, in a simple way, dont want to be political.
Some people might believe in racial equality but not in the black live matter movement.

I mean they’re not mutually exclusive.
I have Black mates in England that I haven't seen for 30+ years, I'd love to see them again if they're still about, I have Black mates and,(I know some here won't like this!)but some Turkish mates here!..
I'm no Racist and to me everybody are equal, but I won't go on my knees for it!..
As people have said above I see no reason why a player would actively not want to do it.
I thought it was great at the start of the villa game.

That's not why McClean doesn't wear a poppy, he's made this point every year since this has become an issue.

I thought it was great and looked great.
If I was playing any sport today I would be an outcast because I would not be 'taking the knee'...conformity and brainwashing by media, especially by Sky sports, leaves me cold...In the main I find the pressure to conform and brainwashing very disturbing...what I also find disturbing is racism...so I will continue as I always do, respecting an individuals race, ethnicity and their pursuit of happiness in whatever country they live.

I wouldn't take a knee, ever, not for anyone. There are other ways I would happily speak up or show support against racism though.
There is a huge amount of hypocrisy flying about, especially when 1000's of players or clubs happily take middle eastern money where human rights are abysmal.
The other thing I don't get, football itself in the UK isn't systematically racist, it's literally money driven and I know racism with the fans is still there now and again, but it's a long long time since I heard any racism at a Leeds game.
what happened too free speech if the players are racist they should be aloud too be racist and not get in trouble racism has been around far longer then anti-racism its called history dont try and change it its the bedrock of are country and if you dont like it you can always leave
