To be fair it is difficult to believe that "unprovoked attack" and "Owen Jones" belong in the same sentence, he must be one of the most punchable people on the planet.

no idea who you are mate, but thanks.
It is strange they use football teams as labels like that in articles. I'm sure 99.99 percent of Chelsea fans would be disgusted at the guys actions.
He might also have been. A vegan, iPhone user, nudist, flat earther, occultist, Audi driver or any other fictional tribe.
Football team, is a label the media reach for a bit too eagerly IMO.

No idea why you have to drag us vegans into this admin!
But seriously I completely agree. I saw the headline today and rolled my eyes - who he supports as a football team has nothing to do with his politics.

This is what I initially thought until I read further down and then I realised why it was used. The created a link to this violence and his previous hooliganism as part of a Chelsea youth wing, with his house containing hooligan memorabilia. Although I do agree this does happen in general.
If he is vegan? Does that mean he doesn’t put anything that has a blue vein, in his mouth? Old but gold

After the sentencing, Jones said: “Prison isn’t a solution to far right extremism: it’s a political problem which can’t be magicked away by custodial sentences. But if any good comes of this case, it’s to focus attention on a far-right threat which poses a violent threat to minorities and the left, including to those who have suffered far more than me”
-------------------------------------------------------------
As someone who considers himself a moderate, I find the comments of Jones somewhat concerning as well.
It seems to infer that right wing extremism and violence is a problem but no mention of far left extremism and violence.
Surely any right minded thinking person would condemn both - or is left wing extremism and violence to be tolerated?
What is the far left and how does it extremists act in this country?
I think I know what you're getting at but let's be honest we don't currently have an issue with fundamentalist Marxists roaming the streets and attacking people for contributing to the capitalist regime

Well in that case you’re ignorant and help to prove my point.
