Agree Steve, I am not against Spurs playing qualifiers, but to allow the cup holders just to waltz into the group stages from what is essentially a reserve team competition is ridiculous. Surely gaining entry over 38 games is tougher.

Fa cup winner > 6th

League cup winner > 6th
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In a normal season winning the FA Cup is far greater than finishing 6th however this year (despite what the BBC say) infront of a handful of people in a huge stadium it counts for nothing.

I don't know why theres so much doom and gloom on here I'm guessing theres over 100 professional football clubs in England and Wales and we finished as the 6th best.

Not too shabby is it especially after the mess that this season has been.

Surprised about how bitter some Spurs fans have been tbh. I thought you would have been used to us winning trophies by now

Sandy is dismissing the FA Cup on this thread, but on others he is desperate for Spurs to win it.

Sandy trying (yet failing) to dismiss the FA Cup as being a reserve team competition, yet is loathe to see Spurs play their reserves against some Euro minnows...

Curious opinion tbh.

So Steve is Sandys other account?

Nope, sorry to disappoint. I just post how I feel. Not looking for everyone to agree. Although if you can't see the injustice of this, you are blind.

Hopefully we get some rubbish teams so our squad and youth players can get some game time
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Put in the youth team players, and Spurs will not be going very far. Most have already said they have got a clue on how good or bad the qualifying teams are, because most have never heard of them. So need to take this competition seriously.

Youth team players will not get the team into the Group Stages.

I said squad and youth.

Interesting that this is the one comment that you've decided to respond to under this alias sandy

It’s funny how a few Spurs fans seem to think that finishing 6th, a whopping 40 points behind the champions means they’ve gained a place in Europe on merit. They were actually statistically in more danger of being relegated, finishing a mere 25 points above the relegation zone.

European Qualification, as set out at the start of the season.

Top 4 = Champions League Group stages
5th and FA Cup winners = Europa League Group Stages
EFL Cup = EL qualifiers

6th = nothing, yet Spurs sneak in through the backdoor and Sandy F is crying over two accounts about Arsenal getting in through the back door

Oh ok, but I still doubt any youth team players will get a game. Jose has worked hard to get Spurs into Europa, so doubt he will be taking to many risks in getting Spurs through to the group stages.

Should be a good chance to get Callum Wilson some games and goals.

Didn't you insist on another thread a while ago, arguing with me that Arsenal winning the FA cup would ensure Spurs don't play in Ropey league?

Anyway, congrats on your win. The ref did help a bit. Sending off their best player after Pulisic, was harsh specially as Xhaka went rolling around - knowing that the player was already had a booking - That's cheating.

Also, Ceballos and your manager waving the imaginary cards, should get banned. Somehow, things like this with certain clubs don't get amplified.

But can't takeaway from Auba. Tbh, facing Zouma must have put smiles on his face.
The second goal is all about showing Zouma - one dimensional defender, one way and just taking the other route. Effortless by Auba and I am sure most people were waiting for that dink.

Chelsea still suffer from having a good keeper. Their CBs are a joke. Fat Frank got outwitted by Arteta.
Well and truly out foxed.
Great work by Arteta in how he setup the team!
Well done!

You can hardly complain about the actions of any rivals' manager, when yours is Jose Mourinho.

However I think most Arsenal supporters accept the second yellow for... whatever his name is, was harsh. Having said that the guy knew he was on a yellow, so needed to be careful - pretty sure he'd already committed a couple of fouls since his first card, so maybe that was also a factor?

Anyway, Spurs have plenty of players that 'make the most of a foul', so again, not sure you can take too much moral high ground on that point either.

Agree with you about Arteta out foxing Lampard though. Should probably not get too carried away with that just yet though, as it doesn't seem to be the toughest of tasks tbh,

Well done

You took the compliment well, but the negatives, you just blamed Spurs on them

Typical, no?

Not blaming Spurs for diving/overreacting (call it what you want). All teams have players that do this these days.

Considering Jose's touchline antics, when moaning about Arteta brandishing an imaginary card seems a touch ironic though.

Waving an imaginary card is one the worst things in football, specially when done by someone who is a manager and should set better examples.

It was clear to see Arteta wave his hands. He used to do it as a player too.

Why are you talking about Jose and clearly two wrongs don't make one right?

Take the fact that yesterday your manager has let down his profession by doing that and Xhaka, by diving and rolling around.

RIP Tito who was suffering with cancer at the time. Of course Jose wasn’t to know that, still makes Jose a cant though.

Spurs are lucky as Wolves now have to win the Europa League to get CL football otherwise they have no Europa League.
