Loving the look of the squad Chelsea are putting together. With money spent and big names comes pressure though. Chelsea must surely be in the mix next season and if they're not....
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It would be crazy to expect Chelsea to compete for the title next season.

They might, but the idea they must?

Of course, Roman may well have that view, but it doesn’t make it a sensible one. Building title winning teams takes time.

Another £100m to add to the billion you already owe Abramovich.

Doped to the hilt.

Chelsea more than any other team in England have sacked managers for not winning titles, even winning smaller trophies hasn't cut it. Lampard got a free hit this season due to the transfer ban and a perceived move towards youth. Bringing in potentially 4 players for around 200 million raises expectations. If Chelsea were to finish 20 points plus behind the winners, would Lampard still have a job? At most clubs probably, at chelsea??

I know. If you read my post you’ll see that’s basically what I said.

£50m for Chilwell’s actually worse than £80m for Maguire.

And I added to it.

Well this is nonsense but you’re entitled to believe it

Clearly is. Chilwell’s terrible.

Randomer is very defensive over this.

Do you think it’s a good signing, Randomer?

Jury’s out but automatically saying he’s worse than Maguire at the price he cost is mental. They’re probably similar level in their respective positions

Let me see. £30m+ cheaper, younger, doesn’t turn like a boat, can actually run, isn’t a thug who deliberately kicks players in the balls and fights with police while on holiday

Yeah I’m not seeing how he’s automatically a worse signing than £85m Maguire

Maguire’s a much better player than Chilwell, though. Which is why this is actually worse. Chilwell’s really bad.

If that’s how you feel then fair enough. Maguire is pretty average and cost £85m, Chilwell is pretty average as well and will cost £50m. Comfortably a better deal

No, I was referring to the deal itself rather than the players. If they’re similar quality yet one cost £30m less it’s obviously not a worse deal is it?

It’s perfectly reasonable to think that Maguire is a better player with a bigger impact than Chilwell.

You may disagree but it’s not any more ‘mental’ as what you’ve said.

He was £80m. And is a much better player. I don’t even really rate Maguire but Leicester have taken you to the cleaners for a really poor left back.
