Bottom line guys, Leicester made 130mil out of both of us & are laughing their @rses off. We can all agree on that correct
Don’t forget Danny Drinkwater.
At least you got a Kante for good money. Makes up for them mugging you for the other two.
Chilwell is 23, it's not like he's the finished article.
Whereas Maguire you'd think is in the prime of his career and he's bang average.
We're not getting Dunk so you can't bum me out today
50mil for Chilwell I can just about accept, if we get good money for Alonso or Emerson it's OK.
Combined 90mil for Chilwell & Dunk? Yeah I'd have some trouble with that
We shall see in a few weeks. Clearly Chilwell is valued by Chelsea, that may be solely based on Frank's opinion and there are other options, we've gone with him and we will see how he works out. Maybe Frank has seen a way to use him that will benefit his play.

I’m just glad you’re signing him so we don’t.

Great, all the best with the ones you do.
'Frank has seen a way to use him that will benefit his play.'
Precisely. For all his shortcomings, Chilwell is a quality athlete. Work rate/ethic can't be doubted.
Also very strong in aerial duels (rarely loses them), which is a weakness that needed rectifying.
"Ben Chilwell in the 19-20 Premier League season: Progressive runs - 1st among LBs
Key passes - 3rd
Fouls won - 3rd
Final third passes - 3rd
Shot creating actions - 4th
Open play shot creating actions - 4th
Aerial duels won - 5th
Accurate long passes - 5th"
Those are some encouraging stats, can progress under Frank and a better team.
Just have to look at significant gains Pulisic has made, as a case study.
I'll always use Pulisic as an example because his attacking/goalscoring output was very underwhelming prior to joining Chelsea and had been written off as a 'commercial brand signing' by the masses.

Loving the look of the squad Chelsea are putting together. With money spent and big names comes pressure though. Chelsea must surely be in the mix next season and if they're not....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be crazy to expect Chelsea to compete for the title next season.
They might, but the idea they must?
Of course, Roman may well have that view, but it doesn’t make it a sensible one. Building title winning teams takes time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea more than any other team in England have sacked managers for not winning titles, even winning smaller trophies hasn't cut it. Lampard got a free hit this season due to the transfer ban and a perceived move towards youth. Bringing in potentially 4 players for around 200 million raises expectations. If Chelsea were to finish 20 points plus behind the winners, would Lampard still have a job? At most clubs probably, at chelsea??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know. If you read my post you’ll see that’s basically what I said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is what I basically said in my first post, so....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I added to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As did I with yours.

Notice how almost all of those comments are in agreement that 50mil was a good deal for them. That in itself should say something considering the original price tag was 80mil.

Maguire’s a much better player than Chilwell, though. Which is why this is actually worse. Chilwell’s really bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re relatively equal In quality and chilwell was much cheaper, so....
Great bit of business by Leicester, sell Chilwell and replace him with Tagliafico by all accounts.
Chilwell is bang average at everything he does apart from crossing the ball, he’s absolutely horrendous at that.

Time will tell. Maguire has definitely had an positive impact on your improved defence. Chilwell may fit in really well with us.
Personally I don’t rate him from the little I’ve seen. Also some Leicester fans have been on his back all season which worries me.
