Reliable people have reported Cavani, Telles, Traore and Pellestri will all get done so it would be a surprise now if any one of those deals collapses.
Obviously anything can still happen but it would be a surprise.
I've a feeling we might just get Dembele through the door too.
Demebele news has been up and down throughout the day but now it’s looking more likely because we seem to have told Barca we would cover his wage

Can't get excited about that one at all
From what I’ve read Barca want to sell Dembele so they can bring in Depay, but we only want a loan with an option to buy.

It’s a joke signing but sums up the shambolic club for what it is. We had lockdown to prepare for signings and how to move forward, we end up scrambling round on deadline day again.
it really isnt a joke signing at all.... its a risk.
if he stays fit Dembele could be a great asset to the squad.. to write the likes of him off ( if he does come) and cavanni before theyve even kicked a ball shows the kind of fans we have on here
from what i read, dembele's wages are not that stupid - c £200k, nowhere near the silliness of de light/suarez/griezmann wages - so a loan could be very interesting.
No it’s a joke signing, this club is pinning its hopes on a player who done his hamstrings THREE times last season.
That should be an automatic no no, and given the fact we’ve got the worst medical department when it comes to helping injury prone players then we’d be lucky to see this guy make 10 appearances for us.

Seems like a compromise could be met, similar to what Barca did with Bayern for Coutinho. Though Bayern’s option to buy him was hilariously over €100m.

I'm certainly not writing either of them off but you have to say Cavani and Dembele smack of panic buys and the kind of things that have gone wrong in the past.

which is why a loan signing is nowhere near the risk of a perm signing.

I'd say it's somewhere between joke signing and professionalism.
On one hand:
- Dembele has world-class potential talent / Cavani has huge talent and experience and we'd be getting both at relatively modest cost
- You'd imagine some due diligence has been done on their fitness / likelihood of recurrence of injury problems / attitude
- It's probably naive to imagine they were plucked out of the air as panic buys when first choice targets fell through: there's always a list of targets in descending order, and they were probably on that list
On the other:
- Why spend months chasing the first choice targets and conclude deals in the last hours of the last day of the window, when everyone could anticipate a challenging start to the season due to the truncated summer?
- How did the club with the biggest revenue fail so spectacularly to buy its number one target?
- Feeling of sickening deja vu around purchase of famous players that seem to fit the marketing team's requirements better than the coach's template.
- Looking forward to seeing two players who managed about half a game between them last season working with the Manchester United Harold Shipman centre for health and fitness.
One thing though: I feel more positive about signing Cavani than I did about signing Michael Owen. The one good thing about that was the way it ruined a few golden memories for the Scousers.
