Deadline Day BS Live

Favourite rumour of the day so far: as time runs out, United are considering taking the risk of signing Dembele without first conducting a medical. (Daily Record.)

Can't see what could go wrong therel, eh? You kind of want it to be true for the absurdity of it all.

Late bid for Gunnersaurus, Fred the red not got the pace he once had

Sounded like an excuse to me, Dunc. Maybe in the future you should actually learn something about the players before having a go at fans that question the signings you don’t know anything about.

Took Roma 3 months to stump up the cash for Smalling, they must have an Italian Ed in charge of their transfers

where did I have a go at anyone

Oh you want to take that literally. Okay, criticising fans for writing them off before they’ve kicked a ball for us is still a load of shiiiiit. As I said, between them they player fewer games than permacrock Luke Shaw did last year.

Traore is done as well now. Will join up in January.

So that's a reason to write them off?
And yeah, I'll criticise them for writing off a player who hasn't even kicked a ball for the club.
They could fail, they could spend all season on the physio table, or they could end up having decent spells at the club ( more likely to be just cavanni now).
Until that point though I'll reserve judgment on them and back them.. writing them off before hand is fecking pathetic.

I’m not writing Cavani off.

But it’s an absolute disgrace that on deadline day, we’re scrapping around trying to sign an injury prone 33 year old who has been available since June, probably on bumper wages.

I agree with you, it is.

Tim Howard made a point of sky, as far as hes concerned these aren't panic buys, but 3rd or 4th option buys and that's the concerning thing

£50m+ spent on youngsters this summer apparently

Of course it facking is. This club is one of the worst around at managing injuries, signing injury prone players is facking stupid.

Maybe that won’t be the case at United they’d turn out good signings, but doubting that isn’t pathetic at all, it’s an extremely valid concern.

Sure, have concerns, but any transfer is a risk.

Cavanni still played 22 times last season, 33 times the season before.
He went very playing week in week out either

Of course any transfer is a risk, but some are quite clearly bigger risks than others. Signing players that have problems with injury are quite blatantly the biggest risks with signings.

And if you look at the amount of minutes played it doesn’t make for good reading.

Maybe, but it's not like either deal would have cost millions.
United have reportedly pulled the plug on dembele because Barcelona wanted a permanent deal and with his injury record that was deemed too much of a risk, but a loan deal could have worked out very well.
He is clearly a talent and as I said earlier, Giggs went through a spell where he suffered regularly with hamstring and groin injuries, but he didn't end up having a bad career once they learned how to handle it.

posted on 5/10/20

Well they would considering wages. And Dembele’s injury problems are far worse than Giggs’ ever were. He’s been injured for more than a year in four years at Barca. I bet Giggs wouldn’t have been injured a hell of a lot more than that in his career.

If someone offered you Marcus rashford on a free or Paul pogba for nothing (forgetting his form) would you say feck no they missed a load of games through injury last season.

posted on 5/10/20

Have they missed over a year of football through injuries in the last four years?

Has cavani?
And pogba has yes

posted on 5/10/20

Are they nearly 34 and had issues with injuries for two years now? And no Pogba hasn’t missed over a year in the last three (not four) years with injuries.

posted on 5/10/20

Pogba has missed 52 games through injury in the last 3 seasons

posted on 5/10/20

Dembele’s missed 81. And through numerous, and recurrent, injuries over three years whereas Pogba’s only had this season with a bad injury - an injury that was made worse by the club, same thing happened with Rashford.

I don’t know why you’re even trying to make these stupid comparisons.

posted on 5/10/20

So the club made rashford and pogba injuries worse... and you're so much of an avid PSG fan you know for sure that they didn't do the same with cavanni?

posted on 5/10/20

It’s a clean slate with Cavani let’s see what happens, we need a proper striker leader of the line
