DJ. You just posted this about Ali
At his best he is a combative, good in the air, likes a tackle type.
That's all I was saying about Auba he would be at his best if not better if he did the above.

Can’t remember the last time I saw him have a good game. The worry (when he was scoring for fun) was what does he do to affect games if he doesn’t score and the answer is , well, nothing. Makes me laugh the talk a few years ago that he should be Madrid’s number one option and England’s best player.

He has his positives. Aggressive, eye for a goal, still has his best years ahead of him.
But technically he's awful. Is very prone to Spursy moments where he simply doesnt influence the game. Plus his bad blood with Arsenal in past probably means most fans won't take to him.
Reminds me of Barkley. No thanks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Err what??
Technically he is brilliant. He has steel and aggressive nature and when on form can very much influence a game. Scored some huge goals in big games. Cheslea comes to mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He has a functional technique to control the ball after two touches. What Serial Wum means is the close control in tight spaces if he is surrounded by three opponents. Players like Xavi, Iniesta, Cazorla, Messi, Thiago have the technique to receive the ball in tight spaces and Alli doesn't.
He is more a player who can make runs in space or behind the opponent defence.

Dele and Lingaard are the same type of player. Social media and selfies 1st. Sustaining a career in football 2nd. Especially now they've got money. To the point all they've produced on the pitch in ages is utter dross.
Lingaard is beyond help, Ali might have a chance but he needs a strong man manager that'll give him the almighty kick up the keyster he needs and a dose of reality, whilist giving him a cuddle.

I strongly disagree with this kind of lazy commentary.
Lingard has made the absolute best of his limited technical abilities through application and hard work. Sure, he's not good enough for where United want to be but I don't see that's his own doing at all. He's reached his potential and it is what it is.
Dele performed at a high level at an early age, partly because of his natural ability, and partly because of the team he was dropped into - Dembele, Eriksen, and Kane all hitting prime form when he was introduced. As a link player he looked great, and was afforded the space to demonstrate his skill.. like the incredible goal against Palace. But he never pushed on to build on that impact and add to his skill set. He could be our de Bruyne if he'd rounded out his play.
I think what we're seeing now is the reality of him not pushing on and evolving from that 20 year old that made the team. With Eriksen gone he's being expected to actually influence a game on his own and it's increasingly apparent he can't. Not great at dribbling past a player, not particularly quick or strong, not great at shooting or passing from any distance.. he's the best definition of a 'luxury' player. Stick him in a dominant Pep team or a PSG and he'll look class again. Put him in a team trying to get promoted and he'd do fack all.
I like Dele as a player and a character, but right now I'm fully behind Mourinho dropping him. For his own good, he needs to sort it out.
