Well I'd have Roy Keane above at least three of those.
1. Barry Ferguson
2. Steven Gerrard
3. Zinedine Zidane
4. Roy Keane
5. Graeme Souness
gerrard shouldn't be anywhere near this list, his best season at liverpool for instance had him playing as an advanced attacking midfielder behind torres.
and although trophies are not necessarily a clinching argument, his cabinet is notably bare compared to the competition.

All jokes aside, Bruno won't be the best in the PL until about 5 years after he's retired.
Then it'll be time to reconsider his place in the list.
tbf i wouldn't consider bruno to be a central midfielder either...i'd probably restrict it to anyone who would play in the 2 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The fact Matthaus isn't in your list upsets me.

I was tempted but he played defense for a while

he he, now that you mention it (!)
of modern ones i'd think of xavi, pirlo, modric, scholes, think yaya tends to get a tiny bit overrated - he was superb at his peak, but not sure we saw his peak too much in the PL though.
Yaya 13/14 is best season of any midfielder in pl history.

quite possibly...but that's not the question.
I think Seedorf has to be in the mix imo.
He won an awful lot and was very good at pretty much everything football.

I never really bought into the Seedorf thing. I get that his longevity and honours list is insane, I just never watched him dominate games like so many of the greats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
great player, but yeah, wasn't the best player or midfielder in the world at any point like say zidane
From the 00s era it’s been Xavi and Modric 1&2. Can’t really comment prior to that.

Not sure on modric
I think players like gerrard, lampard, scholes, iniesta, kroos, pirlo and others may have something to say about it.

To add to this, Seedorf also managed to not even be the best midfielder for the majority of the teams he played in (Davids, Rikjaard, Redondo, Pirlo, Kaka etc)
